Origins and appearance
The Xorani, as they are called in the plural, emerged from the eastern reaches of Sapience, bearing closest relation to the Drakt, Grook, and Kelki; a versatile and powerful people, they were the foremost warriors of the early southeast, and their unique and legendary ability to breathe fire likely informed the early Priests’ philosophical inclinations toward light. The Xorani are bipedal and reptilian, and remarkably diverse in height, weight, aptitude, and colouration; all the colours of the rainbow and more are easily within a Xoran’s purview. Today, the race can be found all across the continent.
Racial abilities
Level 1: Cold Blooded
This ability is passive.
This racial trait allows you to absorb heat more easily, keeping you cooler. It will be as though you are wearing less clothing in hot climates.
Level 31: Scales
This ability is passive.
The hardened scales that adorn your body will help you resist fire-based damage by 2%.
Level 61: Fire Breathing
Syntax: BREATHE FIRE AT <player/denizen>
BREATHE FIRE <direction>
BREATHE FIRE AT ICEWALL
Your anatomy lets you breathe flames at another, burning the target and setting them ablaze. You can also melt walls of ice with your flames, or in a direction to melt the wall covering that exits.
Additionally, you can use your fiery breath for small tasks that usually require a tinderbox, such as lighting a pipe or heating a forge. Simply perform the action required without a tinderbox.
Class ideas for roleplay
These are potential starting points for a character’s story and are offered as suggestions only. You can make almost any class or race combination work in Aetolia, as your race gives no special advantage with these classes; availability follows the usual class and guild rules.
Luminary
A Xoran priest might take an interest in how their people’s fire-breathing could influence the first Priests’ philosophy of Light. Enorian’s Illuminai offer a living tradition in which Light-sourced fire and devotion to the Age of Dawn give that history a present purpose.
Templar
A Xoran warrior could carry their people’s early martial traditions into defending Enorian. The Templar code would ask them to place courage and skill in service to justice, protecting others against Corruption and Tyranny rather than pursuing conquest for its own sake.
Carnifex
A Xoran weaponsmith might join Bloodloch’s Carnifex, putting their fire-breathing to work at the forge. They could arm their comrades for the empire’s campaigns and lead warhounds into battle, seeking a reputation built on the weapons they make and the enemies they defeat.
