Playing Aetolia

You can play in a variety of ways, including both in-browser and downloadable methods. We recommend:

  • Nexus: Our official browser-based client works very well with the latest versions of all the browsers, with the exception of Internet Explorer versions 9 and earlier. This will give you the best and smoothest initial Aetolia experience. Windows, Mac, Linux, Tablets.
  • Mudlet: This is a third-party (free) downloadable client that is popular with players due to being highly-customisable. You'll use it to connect to aetolia.com, port 23 (you can also use port 2003 if you are blocked from using port 23 for whatever reason). Windows, Mac, Linux.
  • VIP MUD Client: This is a popular client for visually-impaired players. Free for 30 days, then $30 to buy. Windows only.

Playing on Mobile

There are a number of options to play on mobile, though playing on mobile can be challenging. The game is easier to access and play on tablets, and in both case, we recommend using Nexus.  Nexus will scale to fix your phone and your settings from your desktop will be available.

Other options include Blowtorch (Android) and MudRammer (iOS).

Other Clients

Here are some additional clients you can download for use on your computer, which connect to Aetolia using the Telnet protocol (port 23). We try to fully support these clients through our in game options. These clients are very popular with seasoned players because of their customisability, and many have helpful out of character support groups in game. If the client you choose doesn't already have an Aetolia profile pre-made, you can connect to the game at www.aetolia.com, port 23 or 2003.

This list is not exhaustive - many more clients with varying degrees of feature sets and popularity are available.
