17.6.2 Primordial Dragons
At the pinnacle of dragonkind stand the Primordial Dragons, seven ancient and immensely powerful beings that willed themselves into existence near the beginning of time in the Age of Magic by the Albedi calendar. These creatures are among the oldest and most powerful entities in the universe entire, and the first living mortals of the Prime Material Plane, rivaled by few in both might and cunning.
Primordial Dragons embody sentient magic itself, and never stop growing throughout their immeasurably long lifespans so long as they have a source of magic to sustain their forms. They emerged spontaneously from the raw, untamed magic that filled the Prime Material Plane before the formation of the world as we know it.
Each of the Dragons have affinity to a different element and uphold a cardinal aspect of Primal life. The Dragons are not merely creatures but primeval forces that shaped the very foundation of Aetolia.
Of the seven, details are known about these Primordial Dragons:
[0;33mTanixalthas, the Sun Drinker[0m
The first of the seven to spontaneously emerge into existence. She has an affinity to the element of air and upholds the cardinal aspect of Pride. Known by countless names throughout the ages, She ascended to divinity within the Sapience pantheon in the Midnight Age by claiming the essence of air.
[0;33mGraultok, the Spine[0m
The largest of all the Primordial Dragons by magnitudes. He has an affinity to the element of earth and upholds the cardinal aspect of Gluttony. It was his bulk that cracked the planet of Aetolia when he landed upon it to rest, creating the tectonic activity that led to the formations of continents and mountains. He has been sleeping since the end of the Age of Magic, unable to wake due to magic having thinned too much over the ages to sustain his enlarged form. His body is known as the spine of the world, and forms the longest continuous mountain range upon Albedos. Over millennia, his body became encased in stone and earth, with entire ecosystems developing upon his massive form.
Despite the presented similarities, the entity known as Mountain Sleeping is not Graultok, and is instead an eld'akathai bound to the Dehkay Plateau.
[0;33mThe Dragon of Desire[0m
Little is known currently about this Primordial Dragon. He has an affinity to the element of spirit and upholds the cardinal aspect of Lust. Notably, the lineage of the Dreikathi and wyrms were spawned from his loins.
[0;33mThe Drifter[0m
Also known as the Languorous One, he has an affinity to the element of fire and upholds the cardinal aspect of Sloth. The last and smallest to emerge, he fell asleep upon the forming world. As the planet evolved, it encased his form deep within its core. There he remains, drifting through currents of magma in eternal slumber. His restless movements create disturbances that manifest as volcanic eruptions on the surface.
[0;33mWinter's Vengeant Eye[0m
This formidable Primordial possesses an affinity to the element of water and embodies the cardinal aspect of Wrath. She rules as queen of the continent Vorostra since the disappearance of Dhiranaksha, the Rakshasa king, from where she wages constant war upon the Dreikathi and is the reason Vorostra remains largely unconquered by them. Despite her wrathful nature, she has a fiercely protective streak, particularly toward the inhabitants of her domain. The denizens of Vorostra, especially mothers, look up to and worship her as a guardian deity who shields them from external threats.
The Grand Library is unable to confirm the veracity of the details concerning the remaining two Primordial Dragons, and thus they have been excluded for now.
