19.12 Referring a Friend
Refer a new player or invite an inactive player to return to Aetolia and earn rewards as they play! When your friend hits certain thresholds or benchmarks, you will both receive in-game rewards. Referral System Syntax: REFER LINK - Generate a unique link to refer players to the game. REFER REWARDS - View your current reward status. REFER LIST - View a list of everyone you've referred to the game. REFER CONFIRM <name> - Confirm the name of the player who referred you. This cannot be changed once confirmed! REFERRAL RULES AND EXPECTATIONS -------------------------------- There are two types of referrals: NEW PLAYER REFERRAL - Refer a new player to join the game. * No self-referrals to alt accounts. * The new player cannot have an existing account for the game. * Players should not troll newbies to earn referral bonuses. This behavior will result in a permanent ban on referring. * Referrer must be in good standing. * Abuse may result in the revocation of rewards and penalties. RETURNING PLAYER REFERRAL - Invite an existing, but inactive player to return to the game. * Only accounts with no active characters in the game qualify for a returnee incentive. * Only one return invite per registration per real-life year. * The referrer must be in good standing. * Abuse may result in the revocation of rewards and penalties. HOW TO REFER SOMEONE -------------------- There are two ways to refer someone to Aetolia and be eligible for rewards: Type REFER LINK to get your personal link, then share it! New Players: When someone signs up using your personal link and confirms you as their referrer during their first character creation, you'll be confirmed as their referrer. Returners: When an eligible inactive player logs back in using your personal link, you'll automatically be confirmed as their referrer. New Player / Returner sets you as their Referrer in-game with: REFER CONFIRM <player> New Players: Only available in the first 25 hours of playtime. Returners: Only available during your first login session after 90+ days of inactivity, so long as you haven't been referred already in the past year. THRESHOLDS AND REWARDS ---------------------- Rewards are granted to both the referrer and the referee based on thresholds specific to their referral type. Easier thresholds will reward both you and your referral with Unbound Credits, while harder thresholds will reward you both with Iron Forged Bonds, which can be redeemed at The Ironforged Emporium in Esterport for exclusive rewards. NEW PLAYER REFERRAL REWARDS --------------------------- For inviting a new player to the game, both the referrer and referee will receive as the new player reaches thresholds in the game. Referred Player creates a character and enters the game: Reward: 5 credits Referral Player reaches Level 30 Reward: 15 credits Referral Player reaches Level 80 Reward: 1 Iron Forged Bond Referral Player maxes out lessons in all three main Class Abilities Reward: 1 Iron Forged Bond RETURNING PLAYER REFERRAL REWARDS --------------------------------- For inviting an inactive player (someone who has not logged in for 90+ days) back to the game, both the referrer and returning player will receive rewards when the returner reaches cumulative playtime thresholds across all of their characters in this game. Time Played: 3 hours Reward: 5 credits Time Played: 15 hours Reward: 15 credits Time Played: 30 hours Reward: 1 Iron Forged Bond IRONFORGED BONDS ----------------- This currency can be spent in The Ironforged Emporium in Esterport (v84068). Offerings include: - Bags you can open for credits or iron coins. - Exclusive minipets and mounts. - A package of elemental globes. - Exclusive phylactery and flair. - A minipet accessory (collar) that can be socketed with gems. - An 'Ironforged Locket' transmute beetle that will customise the 'paired locked' artifact with brand new messages! Note: Rewards available may fluctuate and change over time. FAQ ---- What if my friend (new player) forgot to use my referral link when creating their character? They can REFER CONFIRM <yourname> before 25 hours of total playtime to confirm you as their referrer. Can I change my referrer? No. Once the New Player or Returning Player confirms their referrer, the selection is locked. Do threshold hours across multiple characters count for Returning Player invite threshold? Yes, they're cumulative for all characters on that player's registration for this game. Can I invite someone who still has an active character to return? No, they must be fully inactive, which means they have not logged in to any characters in the game for 90+ days. How often can I invite the same person to return to the game? Once every 12 real-life months, as long as they've been inactive for 90+ days. What if the Returning Player I referred logged in and forgot to use the REFER URL or click REFER CONFIRM <player> before logging back out? Your character will be considered "Active" and ineligible to be a returning referral. Make sure you complete this process correctly! Do Returning Player invite rewards differ from New Player referral rewards? Yes, they're set separately by the admins and outlined above. Referral Shop reward offerings are the same for all players, but are subject to change.
