2.3 Inventory

Your inventory is what you are carrying or wearing or wielding - equipment of various sorts.

INVENTORY - INV - II - IH
-------------------------
The word INVENTORY in Aetolia is most commonly used to refer to the items and equipment that a player or mobile is carrying, wielding, or wearing. There are two ways to see what is in your inventory.

INVENTORY (or INV, I or EQ) will list your inventory.
INFO INV (or II) a more detailed list, with numeric ids.
II <item> to show only items of a particular sort.
INFO HERE (or IH) shows the detailed items in the room.

There is one potential way for another player to make you give away items in your inventory. Putting a fist-shaped sigil on that item will ensure that your grip on it will be too tight to lose it with many methods. (see HELP SIGILs) Alternative, consider learning the SELFISHNESS ability in Survival.

Each item in Aetolia has a separate and distinct number (as shown in II). Oftentimes you will have multiple items of a similar type, and you will want to be specific in referring to one. So, for instance, if you had 5 oaken vials filled with different kinds of liquids and you wanted to make sure you give the right one to your comrade, you might type GIVE VIAL1347 TO VARIAN (or just GIVE 1347 TO VARIAN) instead of just GIVE VIAL TO VARIAN. You may also refer to similar items by their position in your inventory, such as GIVE VIAL.2 TO VARIAN to hand over the second vial you hold.

To gain more information on an item, including what is inside the item, if anything, you may:

   PROBE <item> (or P <item>)
   EXAMINE <item> (or EX <item>)

There are various ways of manipulating equipment, and they include:

   GET/TAKE/G <item>
   GET/TAKE/G <item> FROM <another item>
   GIVE <item> TO <whomever>
   DROP <item>
   WIELD <item>
   UNWIELD <item>
   WEAR <item>
   REMOVE <item>
   ATTIRE <item> <description>
   SHIFT <item> TO <location>

Dealing with gold is a slightly different matter, as you will want to specify how much gold to get or give. To do this, you would, for instance, type GIVE 100 GOLD TO VARIAN. Of course, if you don't have 100 gold, poor Varian will be broke and you'll be standing there looking silly. When manipulating gold in ways other than giving it to someone else, you need not include an amount. For example, you may PUT GOLD IN PACK or GET GOLD and this will put or get all of the gold possible.
