20.11.165 The Izu-Ari Casino

Rebys and Traner were an exceptionally lucky couple who lived their very own rags-to-riches dream after both competed in the inaugural Tournament of Luck and made it to the grand finals where they played opposite one another.

Having found themselves on such a lucky streak, they went on to place winning bet after winning bet on all manner of scenarios: races, weather events, elections, and ever-so-many games of chances. Gaining their riches in vast sums and in short order, they self-styled themselves as nobility and adopted flamboyant, new-money personalities.

They founded a casino in western Sapience and named it after Izu-Ari, in homage and yet daring challenge to the famed gambler of legend whose star is meant to bring bad luck upon gamblers, perhaps foretelling their own downfall in the process.

The business flourished initially, playing host to travellers from all over the continent, yet their defiance of the star's legend did not go unanswered. Once the most lucky couple in the land, their luck eventually turned and the casino profits began to dry up along with it.

Little by little, the prestige of the casino has dwindled over time until there is naught left but some of the rags they began with so many years ago. The entrepreneurial couple threw open their doors to the public in the Year 500 of the Midnight Age - condescending to accept any and all clientele in order to keep their dream afloat.
