11.7 Divine Orders
Each god in Aetolia has a Divine Order. These Orders comprise those players who wish to formally declare their worship and dedication to a particular god. Entrance to the Divine Order of a god may be granted by the god, or in some cases by one of His or Her most trusted followers. Many players find membership in a god's Order to be one of the most important parts of their experience in Aetolia. Membership can often give one a certain sense of belonging, a religious structure to adhere to, and a sense of being watched over by a deity who is sympathetic to your causes, that is often vital to one's success in Aetolia. Within a Divine Order, there are 10 ranks. Your god may (or may not) promote you within the Order based entirely on His or Her own criteria. It is, furthermore, considered extremely inappropriate to ask for a promotion. The highest few levels of an Order are special in that they entail special responsibilities and special powers, such as allowing entrance to the Order or raising shrines to the god that may be used for offering. Mortals may be appointed to the highest level of the Order, and these are usually considered to be the god's personal representative among mortals for whatever reason their god may deem appropriate. HELP GODS will give you a list of the gods that can be followed. Order Powers ------------ As you progress in rank in your Order, you will gain the ability to use various powers. ORDER PRIVILEGES (or just ORDER PRIVS) will show you your order-related powers. The one that does not use the beseech command below is the one for order bankaccounts, which is ORDERACCOUNTS. You can withdraw gold using WITHDRAW <gold> <godname>. Many of the Order powers are related to shrines. For these, you must be at an appropriate shrine, and then: BESEECH <deity> FOR <power> The various Order powers are: AMBASSADOR - Create, view and modify treaties for your Order. AMBROSIA - Beseech your Divine for sustenance. APPRAISE - Learn the Order's current level of shrine energy. AVATAR - This power allows you to become a living Avatar of your Patron. While active and while you remain within the influence of a shrine, all your statistics will be increased by 2 points, you will resist an additional 20% of all damage, regenerate an additional 3% of your maximum endurance and willpower and an additional 3% of your health and mana. BANKING - Manage your Order's bankaccounts. BOON - Bestow a boon from your Divine upon your fellow order members. CASTOUT - Cast a heretic out of your Order. Syntax: CASTOUT <player>. CHAMPION - Act as Champion of your Patron, unlocking the Avatar power. CPROJECTS - Create and edit projects for the Order's faithful Congregation. CURES - Cure order member afflictions. DECONSTRUCT - Deconstruct a shrine. ENCOMPASS - Your Divine will hinder the movements of enemies around your shrine. ENDURANCE - The power of your Divine will refresh your endurance. ERECT SHRINE - Erect a shrine to your God. GODSBANE - Master Shrine power. Defile shrines at a faster rate. HEALING - Heals order member health. HERETICS - Reveals those with the aura of defilement. HOLYWAR - Plunge your Order into direct conflict with another. JOURNEY - Embark on a pilgrimage to your Order's Master Shrine. LIBRARY - Act as a librarian for order libraries. LISTOFFERINGS - Determine the offerings made to your Patron. UNITY - Bind an engaged couple in the Rites of Unity. Syntax: UNIFY <person> with <person>. OHELP - The ability to edit the Order's help files. ORDERBRAND - Brand someone an order enemy or ally. Syntax: ORDERBRAND <person> <ally/enemy> <reason> ORDERENEMIES - Current list of order enemies. ORDER LAWS - Write laws for the order. Toggle public or private. Syntax: ORDER LAWS COMPOSE|PUBLIC|PRIVATE OTS - Communicate on the Order's secret channel. PAROXYSM - Attacks the health of order enemies. PATRON - Induct someone into your Order. PATRON <player>. REST - Cease all effects active on a shrine. RETRIBUTION - Should an order member die while near a shrine with this power active, your God will strike out at nearby enemies, damaging them as order members are healed. SACRIFICE - Destroy a weakened shrine, harming Order enemies around you. SERMON - Preach to the masses on the glory of your Divine. SHIELDING - Place a magical shield around nearby order members. SHRINESIGHT - Shows status of all your Order's shrines on the continent. SOULREND - Attacks order enemy mana. STATUS - Sense what effects are active on your order's shrines. SUCCOR - Heals order member mana. TRAVEL - Master Shrine power. Travel instantly to a target next to an Order shrine. VISAGE - Take on the appearance of your Divine. VITALITY - Master Shrine power. Grant Order members extra vitality against harm. WATCH - Master Shrine power. At a constant energy drain, shrines will alert the Order when a person enters a room with a shrine. WILLPOWER - Your willpower will be replenished by your God. WORLDBURN - Master Shrine power. Call upon the wrath of your God during a Holy War. Can only be used three times. WRITELOG - Write to your Order logs. You may also read the Order's log to see important recent happenings in the Order. To do so: READLOG <deity> <where to start in log> <how many weeks ago> For example: READLOG NIURI 0 3 will (if you are in Her Order) read the log from the start of three weeks ago. Otherwise you may simply (for example) READLOG SLYPHE to read this week's log. These logs are kept for six weeks. Finally, to leave an order you need to REJECT PATRON. Note that this is not an action you should undertake lightly.
