2.2 Obstacles

As you are moving around Aetolia, you will encounter obstacles to your movement. These could range from doors to piles of rubble or even another adventurer blocking your path.

When dealing with doors, the following commands are applicable:

- OPEN DOOR <direction>    : Opens a door if it is unlocked.
- CLOSE DOOR <direction>   : Closes a door if it is open and unlocked.
- LOCK DOOR <direction>    : This locks a door provided you have the key. 
- UNLOCK DOOR <direction>  : This will unlock any doors you have the key for.

Getting past a pile of rubble is easy enough, you just have to walk in that direction and wait a second or so without entering further commands.

Getting past a blocking player can be more troublesome, however. Though some classes have abilities that allow them to do this, everyone can get past most obstacles, aside from doors, using the TUMBLE ability in the skill of SURVIVAL.

Sometimes you will encounter icewalls blocking an exit. These can be bypassed by flying or tumbling, just as when bypassing a blocking player. You can also use fire to torch the icewall, if you are equipped with a firelash ring enchantment or can do so naturally due to your race.

You may also encounter rooms full of water, through which you may not pass simply by walking. In these cases you must SWIM <direction> to navigate the currents. Be careful not to drown!
