31.3.6 the village of Hatshero

Hatshero is a rare cradle of civilisation within the Oases Valley, the only permanent settlement of its size. At its heart, Hatshero remains a sanctuary for Caentoi families and clans who have forsaken the nomadic life and was founded by one of the great clans, the Domoraek.

The bustling village is built surrounding the largest oasis in the Valley, with distinctive square houses built low into the ground for respite from the desert's heat. Many pastures also spring up around the lush grounds of the oasis, raising animals such as goats.

Perhaps the most notable and well-known feature of Hatshero, however, are its busy markets. Stalls stretch across its squares, with travelers coming all over Albedos to trade with them. Foreign merchants would do well to exercise caution when dealing with the Caentoi of Hatshero, for their shrewd haggling will leave them the better of any deals. Hatshero's primary (legal) exports are spices, dates, figs, goat products, and ceramics.

Though once under the oppressive thumb of the Drakkenmont Empire, Hatshero was quick to bounce back following its liberation, giving credence to the old saying about the Caentoi's entrepreneurial spirit, 'Give a Caentoi an empty stall in the middle of the barren desert, and they will open a sand market.'
