11.11.1 Defilement aura
When you commit hostile acts against a shrine belonging to a Divine Order, you will find yourself marked with an aura of defilement. This aura serves as a brand upon your soul, visible to others and detectable to the Order through certain shrine powers. The aura is tracked on a per-Order basis, meaning you may carry a defilement aura against multiple Orders simultaneously. Your timer will only count down while you are online. While under the effects of an aura of defilement, you are considered OPEN PK and can be killed at any time. Gaining Defilement Aura ----------------------- Praying to defile it a shrine will set your defilement aura timer to a minimum of 12 hours against that shrine's Order. If your timer is already above 12 hours, it will remain unchanged. If a shrine is less than one real-life week old, hostile actions against it will only mark you with 1 hour of defilement aura instead of 12. You can determine whether a shrine is new by probing it. Shrine Destruction ------------------ When a shrine is completely destroyed, all who participated in its defilement receive additional aura time: * +24 hours for an established shrine, or * +8 hours for a new shrine. Participation is determined by whether you hold an active defilement aura timer against that specific shrine at the moment of its destruction. Your defilement aura timer is capped at a maximum of 24 hours. Reducing Defilement Aura ------------------------ 1) Dying a true death at the hands of a member of the offended Order or its Congregation will remove 8 hours from your defilement aura timer against that Order. This requires a full death; using a starburst or similar means to avoid true death will not reduce your timer. 2) Your timer will decay naturally while you are online. Should your timer reach zero, the aura will dissipate on its own.
