The Ruins of Hashan

I address this not only to Myslani, but also to Niuri and many of those
who follow the guilds whose primary pursuit is that of knowledge. In
your remarks the statement was made "The ruins of Hashan hold no
tribute to, nor clues to the past". Are you certain of this?
It is no secret in the land that there is a very deep mystery behind
the inscriptions upon the statues, and various other clues to be found
under the city itself. Many of us with our own eyes beheld destruction
in lesser degrees brought upon the land when many relics of the past
were unearthed which had a very strong connection with Hashan. To
assume the two are not linked, and that some terrible cataclysm did
not bring about the destruction of Hashan I believe is awfully
presumptious, and I do not believe enough has been discovered about
what really happened to Hashan to make such a bold statement.

While I do not follow the orders of your leaders, I have to wonder if
it is truly in the interests, or even the desire of Niuri and the
rest of her people that such an important clue to the past be forever
destroyed. Truly have the sages said that those who do not learn from
the past are doomed to repeat it. If these ruins are studied, perhaps
some truth may yet be discovered that will keep us from repeating prior
mistakes of our ancestors. If they are torn down stone by stone and
used to raise walls and even a city over what was once Hashan, I
personally believe that opportunity will be forever lost. Is this
truly the desire of your people and even of Niuri, Myslani? Perhaps
your divine patron would wish to speak her view on the matter. I
intend no disrespect but believe these are questions that ought to be
raised.

Sincerely
--Sir Alcor

P.S. If I remember correctly during the war of the Nazetu, at one
point Niuri had to charge the citizens of Ashtan (and Shallam too
responded to the threat as well) to prevent the attempted destruction
of the knowledge contained within their library. Be wary that this is
not what is really being attempted here in a far more subtle form, by
they who would care not for the good of even your own people.

Penned by my hand on the 10th of Arios, in the year 114 MA.
