War System Fixes
Hey folks,
First of all, a small fix to the archers to make them better work with the current mechanics where attacking other troops doesn’t instigate war. They get two new orders that you can give them:
Archers Only

ORDER FIRE AT WILL
– This will order your division to fire their arrows at will at any
non-friendly approaching force. This means any division that is neither
bound by treaties like peace or an alliance. If you can feasibly attack
them, they are fair game.
– Usually archers will only fire at divisions you are at war with, so be
warned, if you are not vigilant you could cause a political incident.
ORDER FIRE AT WAR
– This will return the division to its original orders, where it will only
fire at enemy divisions you are at war with.
Additionally, I have some changes that I’ve been sitting on for a bit that I decided to hold back on as there wasn’t much enthusiasm for the war system. However, since there’s no real stakes any more to worry about, I don’t mind pushing these changes out rather then letting them go to waste.
They specifically relate to one of the new units introduced previously, the support division, and will now allow them to construct some minor war fortifications:
Support Only

ORDER CONSTRUCT
– Order the division to begin construction of a specific fortification
relevant to division battle. This will take them 5 minutes to finish
construction.
– You can choose from: Tower, Abatis, Palisade, or Mines.
– A tower will inform you when foreign forces enter the area the tower is
constructed in, however you must reside within your city to see the
notice. You may only have 3 towers at a time.
– An abatis will rob any division of their marching range upon entry until
they recover, including your own. You may only have 4 at a time.
– A palisade will provide the fortified status and its effects to any
division that resides in its location, including enemies if they take
it over. You may only have 2 at a time.
– Mines will harm divisions when they order to march into them except for
Support divisions. This will also detonate on your own divisions marching
into them. Detonation will remove them. You may only have 6 at a time.
ORDER DEMOLISH
– Demolish constructed war fortifications. This will take 5 minutes in order
to complete and will leave behind wreckage that prevents a new
fortification being built there until the debris decays.
– Demolishing mines does not leave behind wreckage, it will just remove them
completely. You can then construct there.
Lastly, I’ve added the new divisions of elites and supports into the Ashtan Colosseum so you can perform mock battles with them.

Finally, I did once upon time talk about the introduction of a ‘War Action’ system for the war system. However, it is basically now on indefinite freeze until we can be little more certain it’ll be worth the effort to finish up.
