A downward spiral.

I'll publicy place this letter as an urgent request to the leadership of
the Sentaari Guild.
The Sentaari is, and has been since my birth, a sinking ship. All the
present leadership is doing is pouring more water in with complacency
and a lack of taking any sort of stance on any issue.
I'll start where the Sentaari's problems start. Balance. The most
misinterpreted and misunderstood word, perhaps in all of Sapience.
You've got members who would claim they should be able to be Evil
because of balance. You've got members who say you shouldn't be in
Shallam because of balance. You've got members who will pretty much say
anything, and try to correlate it to their misinterpretations of
balance.
Well, we are Monks. All Monks should know, from their studies as youth
in the Monastery, where our roots lie. Meditation. Introspection. Being
a Monk is about purification and relentless self improvement of your
mind, your body, and your soul. It's about understanding yourself, your
enviroment, your peers, and all the equality as well as inequities of
the world we live in.
So where does balance come in? Perhaps we should consider through our
introspection, the teaching of Lord Rahn, and our studies at the
Monastery, that balance is attained through the achievment of a stable
psychological and physiological state in which we come to totally
understand the relation of our mind, body, soul, and enviroment.
Perhaps, balance has _nothing_ to do with good and evil. Perhaps that
black and white dictionary definition that we like to throw around to
make any situation seem right, is just a charade put on to prevent us
from questioning the fact that maybe we're confused?
You're probably asking yourself, "Why is Ishuri bothering to say this?
He's a Rogue." Well, I'm not presently enrolled as a member of the
Sentaari Guild, no. But I have dedicated my life, and will continue to
dedicate my life, to the ideals I learned in my youth. The ideals I
first learned when I took on the life of a Monk.
Now, I know we've all read about our own guild. Benevolant. Highly
discipline. Look to your left and right. Are we all level-headed?
Benevolant? Highly Disciplined? Do we all take ample time contemplating
ourselves and how we can better our Brothers and Sisters?
I have spent my short life trying. I served as your Secretary in my
youth. I challenged a near-dormant Guildmaster to give the Sentaari a
chance to have a highly motivated, highly active Grandmaster. I helped
conceive and found the Dojo, and I was straining to garner enough
assistance to make our visions of it a reality.
Life is not without disappointments. The dormant Guildmaster was chosen
over me, because it was thought another was better suited then me to be
Guildmaster. Both of them subsequently were embraced by the Consanguine
and have distanced themselves from our ideals. A Sentaari secretary did
a very dishonourable thing, and I asked for his removal as Secretary so
that I might feel at peace being a Sentaari. It wasn't, and still hasn't
been done, and that remains the reason that I don't sit beside you to
this day.
Well, my brothers and sisters. I am taking this opportunity to implore
you to consider things. Consider the teachings of our elders. Consider
balance. Consider that while we may not be 'good,' we do owe Shallam
service for her protection of our Guildhall and in respect we ought not
slay our fellow citizens nor rob them of their devotion. Consider the
direction that you want your life and your Guild to go.
I fear that if the core values of the Sentaari Monks are not again
realized soon, we will have nothing left to call the Sentaari.
My greatest honour would come from the rebuilding of Sentaari honour,
and my return to the leadership of our great way of life.
Balance. The clarity it brings us is matchless, we must not squander
this gift.
Humbly,
Brother Ishuri
