Renegade Legion Charter

Addressed to: Everyone
Renegade Legion has drafted a version of its organizational charter for
the public.
1) Legionnaire policy forbids its members from taking the aggressor's
stance in any conflict. As the Legion wields a moderate amount of
physical strength, it has determined that such strength should be
wielded reasonably and responsibly. Henceforth, Legionnaires are
restricted from attacking others for non-violent reasons such as
"talking shit," stealing (RL has decided that if a Legionnaire is dumb
enough to get scammed, they deserve to lose their belongings), or making
threats (after all, threats are just an "official" form of oral
defecation). RL will never attack a neutral party for talking. Talking
is the last refuge most people have. As such, we are not mean enough to
take it away from them. RL physical enforcement is only to be requested
in matters where the opposing party made the first move.
2) No RL member will take assassination deeds as an individual, nor will
RL engage in group operations against an individual that has not caused
harm to RL members. Doing either of the aforementioned constitutes the
Legionnaire(s) being the aggressive party, which is forbidden by the
charter. This is to be distinguished from RL lending its military
strength under contract to other cities or organizational groups as a
whole. Should such a contract be offered, RL will investigate the matter
in order to ensure that it does not go into service of an aggressor
force. The details have yet to be hammered out in regards to this
contractual matter, but since there is no urgency it will be finalized
at a future date.
3) The Legion regards itself and its members as part of a whole. As
such, you may consider this a warning that an assault on one is an
assault on all. We encourage everyone to seek a peaceful solution to
disagreements. On a further note, as most disagreements result from
simply talking in the wrong fashion, we advise the general population to
lighten up and not be so irritable as to let people saying "You're weak"
or "You suck" trigger a spasm. Of course, if the opposing party
intentionally (nonverbally) harms you, by all means light 'em up. Any
organization that will not support its people when they are in the right
will soon find itself void of members. No organization in the realm
capable of protecting its members would stand by and allow its members
to be wrongfully attacked. Once again, RL does NOT endorse first
physical aggression from its Legionnaires, and will only step in if the
other side made the first PHYSICAL aggressive contact.
4) Should another Legionnaire other than the direct victim of the
initial assault land the killing blow on an individual charged with
assaulting RL, the matter is considered dropped (unless 2 or more deaths
were suffered by the victim). Once again, as RL is a hive mind, a death
by one is a death by all. One will NOT be killed multiple times for the
same reason. Even if the direct victim did not receive the satisfaction
of personally punishing the offender, that is the risk the victim pays
when he or she requests RL enforcement.
5) An alternative measure of compensating wrongful attacks upon RL has
been produced. Should a Legionnaire decide to, he or she may levy a
material fine (usually in the form of money) to be extracted from the
purpetrator of the crime (that of attacking a Legionnaire member). The
fees range from 1-3k for first offense, 2-6k for second offense, and
3-9k for third offense. Repeat offenders may be fined at the
Legionnaire's discretion. Please keep in mind these penalties will only
be levied in cases where the Legionnaire is not the aggressor, and that
charges of assault may be nullified by death (regardless of how great
the gold cost). Also keep in mind that the number of deaths is directly
in response to the number caused by the offender. Deaths numbering 0 (ie
you attack us but never made a kill) to 1 are compensated by 1 death, 2
deaths by 2 deaths (note that our reason for killing you twice isn't
"You attacked us" but rather "You killed at the during ," to be followed
by "You killed at the during ), so on and so forth. For those of you
that selectively read what you want to see, this is not a "Give us money
or we'll kill you" situation. Rather, this type of situation runs more
along the lines of "We are already intent on killing you for attacking
us first, if you want to make amends then we are open to a non-violent
resolution."
This charter will be considered in effect on the 5th of Haernos, year 91
of the Midnight Age. Public Legionnaire names will be revealed (for
those of you who do not know already) on the 5th so as to ensure no
problems related to identity arise. None of these precepts will be
applied retro-actively. Finally, a general amnesty toward every
individual for personal physical assault will also be applied upon the
5th of Haernos.
