Policy and Consequences

Clarification -

The term 'trivial' was used in missive 280 to refer to
the particular events occuring at the time it was
penned. That is, the wanton enemying of Duiran
opponents for rather dubious (read self-protectionist)
motives.

Whilst I did indeed focus on the events at hand, as
Strung noted, I was concerned with the consequences of
these events for the years ahead: they being the fire
whereby Duiran policy is forged.

The defences of nature are a far from trivial thing, and
yet we had the power to invoke these forces free of any
ordered, just, and even coherent legal framework.

I wrote that missive as a warning - get it right, or you
will surely suffer. For whilst I was raised amongst the
redwoods and would not willingly have lifted my hand against
a forest unless driven to it, there would surely be those
without similar constraints. Individuals, or even groups,
to whom extermination is simply another tool to the hand.

Duiran are lucky that the incidents which have occurred
to date, have been small both in scale and perpetrators.
The fact that a single necromancer can cause this much
difficulty, hints at a singular failure of the Council
Duiran as a political entity.

In parting, I would add that I am merely a spectator to
this conflict, and am not passing judgement on who is
right or wrong. Merely the interpretations bandied about
of words composed by myself, and the political
(in)effectiveness of Council Duiran.

Now that you, brother, are on said Council, I expect to
see improvement. If not, then I suspect that fall from
the family tree caused some lasting damage...
