Tailoring

Well my dear Mefistofeles, it seems it's fallen to me to inform you
about this issue you have with elaborate clothing.
First off, on behalf of all those who possess the skill of Tailoring, we
did purchase it. 100 credits for the basic permit plus the number of
lessons it takes to learn in it to at least the point that we can design
our own clothing. It is OUR skill, and what we choose to do with it is
OUR prerogative.
Secondly, the fact that it sometimes takes a very long time for sketches
to be approved and returned, Tailors generally like to spend their time
producing something original. Many of us see tailoring as an art form
and enjoy expressing ourselves artistically in the clothing we design.
Once again, our skill, and our choice to do so. We do not owe it to the
public to design clothing to their specifications. That would be called
custom tailoring, and costs something extra. All this is aside from the
fact that from what I've found, and from what other Tailors I've talked
to have told me, the majority of people actually prefer clothing that's
somewhat on the fancier side.
But don't fool yourself. There is no shortage of plain clothing to be
found. I suspect you simply aren't looking hard enough. Maybe you
haven't looked too closely just east of the Central Market of Ashtan, or
along Zanzibaar St. in Shallam. There's just piles of nice plain gray
clothing crying out to be bought by people like yourself. That's besides
the fact that I've seen quite plain, unfancy pants and shirts in shops
before. Yes, sometimes even we industrious tailors get behind in life.
If there's none left by the time you get around to shopping, maybe
you'll just have to pipe down and wait for us to restock.
So, that being how it works, if you don't like it, feel free to chough
up the 100 creds plus a pile of lessons and pursue being a tailor
yourself so that you can design all sorts unadorned clothing.
Good luck with your pursuit of plainness,
