Duiran's role?

I am confused as to exactly what Duiran's role is - because it sure
doesn't seem to be protecting nature.
Earlier, my harvesting was returned by one of the Benandanti. In return,
I would never inferno again. I thought this was fair, and even offered
to help replant. A while later, I had my harvesting sundered again by a
different Benandanti, then a herb ban imposed upon Sapience.
Let's examine this. Duiran uses their sundering ability to "protect"
nature. Yet for all the protection it is supposed to offer, it has only
caused mass damage. As a side note for the uninformed, the original
reason for me losing harvesting was nothing to do with burning. In fact,
the first time I used inferno was a good while -after- I lost
harvesting.
Moving on. Why sunder me? All it does is provoke me further - as
evidenced. I understand that there was probably a trust issue involved.
How would you know I just wouldn't go back to burning, even though I had
promised that Benandanti who returned it that I wouldn't? Well, there's
no way to tell, except to wait. What was there honestly to lose?
Heh, all you have now is the guarantee that I -will- inferno and assist
with exterminations.
