Greetings Aetolians,

While I see that Rhaea's post is quite impressive and very
explanatory...I think that my own words might make more of a vivid
impact as to why Wylliam, Ravek, and others care so much about this pit
and what it does to animals.

Imagine a capybara fighting a lion. The capybara is the lion's natural
hunt and will be hunted and killed for food and to keep the lion
satiated and at the peak of its physical form...or the capybara also has
a chance to flee and live to forage another day. Now imagine the same
capybara being put up against a forest basilisk. A foe it has never
before faced and doesn't know is a danger. The capybara would die and
the forest basilisk would only kill it seeing as it is a foe entering
it's domain.

what the pit is doing is pinning a capybara up against a forest
basilisk. It is not for any purpose other than misunderstanding and only
knowing what it originally knows. The capybara not knowing what the
forest basilisk is would not fear it and would not flee. The basilisk
only knowing to defend itself and its territory would slaughter the
capybara without thought.

Do you find entertainment witht he pit now? Do you find entertainment
knowing that you are slaughtering innocent things that some people have
spent their entire lives protecting?

Try thinking about something from a different perspective before stating
your feelings. I find the idea that Spinesreach as a place for it's
people to gain entertainment an excellent idea. But not of something
where an animal is needlessly being killed. Make it an arena where
combatants can battle for glory and honor. Turn it into an after work
boxing arena where the farmers can learn to fight and defend their farms
against the bandits that make their home so close to Spinesreach. All
that Wylliam is asking is that you stop needless killing of something
that is only using a basic instinct of survival and not enough
intelligence to know that its wrong.

Very Truly Yours,
The Rampant Stallion, Storm's Fury

Penned by my hand on the 1st of Lleian, in the year 177 MA.
