Balance- what is it?

I do not tend to post, or even bother much with the drama of the public
news. But recent discussions have prompted the desire to make a
statement.

It seems as if "Balance" is often confused with the idea of Neutrality.
This could not be more untrue. A dedication to Balance does not mean
ambivalence, indifference, or a lack of convictions. One who serves
Balance does not turn a blind eye to events- rather, they consider their
impact upon the Balance of the world. A true servant of Balance has
strong convictions, and intense devotion to the ideals they serve. Those
who support these ideals must themselves learn to understand it through
action and way of life- rather than going through life without concern,
turning a blind eye to the events around them, one who serves this power
must look at every decision they are to make and decide how it will
affect the Balance. To put it in the most simplistic terms- Balance does
not consist of ignoring the opposing forces in the world. It consists of
actively supporting neither one.

Consider this before continuing this drama over Ashtan- Ashtan is not a
community of ambivalence, it is the City of Balance. If you have issues
with incidents that have occured there, such is your perogative. But, do
not assume that a show of convictions portrays a betrayal of the ideals
of Balance- it was these ideals which Ravek sought to defend, whether he
went about it properly or not. This detail is not my concern, merely the
fact that the concept of Balance is all too often misunderstood.

Eternally in the service of Balance,
