Regarding Public News 2173 as posted by Althalus:
"Althalus takes a vial of Ulangi, containing liquefied corruption, from
his kitbag, saying, 'Though I have sworn to my Prince, Nightshadow, to
fight corruption, in this instance it shall be used to heal you.
Previous rituals have proven that an uncontrolled addition of fire will
kill the Consanguine, and thus, a change must be made. The corruptive
powers of this vial should change your body enough to make the
transition possible, though we can make no guarantee on the effects it
will have on your soul. Do you consent to this attempt at a cure'"
I mean then as cordial as possible, what in the name of Varian is
liquefied corruption? How can you possibly claim to liquefy an
intangible ideal? If you can, I'd like to place in an order of liquefied
"mischief," liquefied "mystery," and perhaps even a little bit of
liquefied, "truth." Joking aside, I have no idea what sort of murky
concoction you crafted but I can say with my most sincere regards that
calling it "liquefied corruption" is probably not very accurate.
Although I am sure Lady Chakrasul -could- fuse her essence into a liquid
form, I doubt She is taking time to aid those who are trying to 'purify'
Consanguine blood in the name of Lord Rahn (as reported by Pythona with
Searoth in his post).
"Sotere raises his right hand, palm towards you. He focuses on the
elemental plane of air, clenches his fist and draws his hand towards
himself, slowly drawing the air that is unique to the Consanguine blood,
out of you."
As a vampire, I can assure you that I do not draw breath to sustain
themselves. Personally, I'd be interested in finding out what you claim
is a "unique air to the Consanguine blood." One example where I can see
this coming up is the Corpus ability of dead breath. This, however, is
not (in my opinion) the result of any unique air to a vampire. Rather, a
vampire draws in normal air which mixes with the undead flesh that
remains of the vampire's lungs. He or she then causes a contraction
which exhales the air at a target. This target then inhales this air
which has poisonous effects (similar to the fumes that arise from a
rotting corpse, etc). However, I haven't technically experimented with
this nor have I read any other experimentation to indicate otherwise.
"Our process did not cure Trentacus. It also did not, however, kill him.
The primary result of the ritual was an alteration to the blood of every
Consanguine in the room. Lucimal, Trentacus, and myself were overcome
with all manner of debilitation until we purged about three fourths of
our total blood. The project was not a total loss, however, as a divine
source confirmed that the ritual did in fact have some effect towards
the desired cure, thought it was not enough to have any permanent
effect. We publish this information in the hopes that it, like the Black
Hand's attempted ritual, will add to the knowledge of those trying to
find a cure."
Although this has nothing to do with irrationalities for vampires, I
still see a few. First and foremost, you imply with the last phrase that
this ritual was somehow 'separate' from the Black Hand. Correct me if I
am wrong but Pythona, Xargo, Sotere (who were all present) are members
of the Black Hand. Also, I'm twitching to know what divine contact you
have and how your vial of liquefied corruption *cough* murky water is
the answer...
