Addressed to: Everyone
I am Shallam's Minister of Security, and have dealt with the murder of
the Prophet Averroes, and the impending trial of Maelius, the Barkeep of
Shallam's Silverdrop Inn, who confessed to the crime.
Several months ago, when I went to check on Maelius, he escaped from his
cell in the palace. It was my fault, as I'd forgotten to lock the front
palace gates. However, Maelius spoke to me at great length, insisting
his innocence, and detailing what he has seen.
After consulting with numerous witnesses, I am convinced Maelius is not
guilty, and all charges against him have been dropped, with the apology
of the City of Shallam that this was dragged on so long, and the wish of
all the citizens and guests of the city that Maelius return to the
Silverdrop Inn and continue to serve customers as he has for uncountable
years.
The case is not closed, however. We are acting on more information, and
expect further developments in the case as time passes.
Penned by my hand on the 14th of Chakros, in the year 129 MA.
