Beware of the scoundrel!

Actually, Erol forgot to mention that I've charged him the exact same
price several times over the last few years, and he was always eager to
pay it -- presumably because I was selling at a loss, below market. By
his own reasoning he should have refused and insisted on paying more all
those times. All in all, I think if he adds it up, he's still making out
like the bandit he claims I am. (I'm still selling at a loss, to
liquidate stock, by the way.)

But Erol is right about one thing. When he asked me what I was charging
for cloth, I could have said, "hold on a minute", scoured the world for
the best prices, then told him, "I'm charging 125, but these other
places are charging less". Since that's what he wants, I encourage him
to bring his business to the many merchants who do this sort of thing.
I'm sure when you visit Erol's shop you'll find an up-to-date
comparative price list showing all of his competitor's prices, for
instance.

When it became plain that Erol was dissatisfied, I was prepared to offer
a refund. I was in the process of composing the words of such an offer
on two occasions, but bit them back in reaction to the stream of
insults, accusations, threats, and personal attacks, to which he
resorted pretty much immediately. Perhaps if he sees fit to apologize,
I'll consider making another attempt at a refund offer.

Until then, be warned! If you ask me to sell you something, I may do
something as irresponsible as sell it to you at exactly the price I say
I will! Beware of the scoundrel!

Penned by my hand on the 7th of Ios, in the year 128 MA.
