My dear fellow,
How would you act if you had paid a considerable sum of money for
enchantments (80k), THEN paid a fine to the Magi guild to be allowed to
keep them without being a magi enemy (10k), only to received a demand
several years later that they be given up.
Then to make matters worse when Maurier refused to just give up his
possesions without compensation, the Magi enemied him. As you yourself
have stated the Magi intend on persuing their enemies and slaying them,
he took this as a direct threat to his immeadiate well being.
You seem to expect that as a Luminary Maurier should have turned the
other cheek, you are in error, we are warriors of the Light, we oppose
oppression and bullying, and make no mistake sir, demanding something
that you sold permission for, or else you will kill them is bullying!
As a Luminary Maurier should have waited to see if the Magi made good on
their threats, rather than attacking first, had he remained a Luminary
we would as a guild have dealt with and punished him for this.
The Magi's response was to tell Mauriers mother that he had accused her
of selling the items, when he did no such thing, so his return post was
made in anger and was somewhat inappropriate to cooling the situation.
Finally, it has been said that the Magi were trying to talk to Maurier
to resolve the situation peacefully, I put it to you sir that you do not
enemy someone THEN try to negotiate if your intent is a peaceful
resolution, but you do it the other way round.
Iereas.
