'What did I do wrong!?!'

Many ask me, 'why wasn't I picked, Belakai?' and unfortunately we don't
offer individual comments on people's applications. However, during the
last round, I promised someone (I think it was Turc, but I can't
remember who to be honest) that I would write up a list of huge no-no's
in Celani applications. So here they are:

1) Grammar, grammar, grammar. We don't care if you write in British
English, American English, Grammar Book English. We just care that you
write in English and correctly. This is the largest red-flag in a Celani
application.

2) Length of application. We get ridiculously short applications.
There's no way we are going to pick you if you send in one line answers
to everything.

3) Lack of creativity. We don't want you proposing a god role or an
event that happened in Lusternia two days ago.

4) Lack of maturity. Sometimes it is very obvious that an application is
not only coming off as unprofessional, but that the player behind it
isn't ready for the role and tasks associated with being a Celani.

5) Lack of time commitment. If you are designing another MUD, or
planning to go on vacation for the summer or be sent overseas next week,
now is probably not the best time to take on a new commitment.

6) Lack of examples. This goes along with #2 (and is an easy way to fix
#2). If you say that you have great skills you can bring to the job,
tell us what they are. If you say that you have a unique writing style,
let us know why. If you say you can fix all of Aetolia's problems, tell
us how.

So there they are, the top six reasons that make a well-intentioned
application turn mediocre when we are reviewing them.
