My statement in announce post 86 apparently needs some clarification.

There is no prohibition against a player or group of players attacking a
division of troops. However, the expectation is that you're going to
lose - particularly if the the division's size outnumbers your group.
Troops are very tough, and are meant to be fought with other troops.
That's why they don't automatically attack enemy players, whereas guards
do.

If you've found a way for a group of players to defeat a larger division
in combat, then as of right now please stop using it and report it as a
bug. This includes any tactic where attacking players are pulled out to
safety before they would normally be able to leave on their own.
