4.13.15 Glacian
While the fame and infamy of the Ankyrean Order is well known and well documented throughout history, many of the ancient race's secrets died with them. Relics of the past yet remain as tribute to their advancement, none more curiosity-inspiring and peculiar than their feats of science and technology. Scattered across the tundra, remnant laboratories yet exist, buried deep beneath the ice and snow. Each was built for purpose, and each tells a different story, whether it be quarantine, data analysis, social observation, or even clandestine research into a number of taboo and scarcely spoken subjects. Among these is the science of preservation, and the ability to utilise the magic of ice to freeze things in stasis in order to engineer their survival and recovery in the event of apocalypse or mass loss of life. Whether the Order achieved any success in this field has been a longstanding matter of debate, with rumours abounding of shadowy figures made wholly of ice and darkness wandering the tundra at night. These Glacians, so goes the conjecture, were masters of the cold, capable of bending the harsh, unforgiving tundra to their will and taming those feral beasts which dwell amidst the dark drifts. The first to successfully transfigure their forms thus was Teani Stormwill in the year 504 of the Midnight Age, following an expedition into one such laboratory in the Tundra. After inadvertently reawakening the ancient Ankyrean technology and binding herself in cryostasis, Teani exerted the significant control over the element of shadow learned as a veteran Sciomancer in order to devour the ice and regain her freedom. In the process, the two magics in effect reacted with one another, leaving her changed forever and imbued with the powers of the Glacian now known as Teeh. Assuming this form is a matter of unflinching resolve and endurance. When the horn of winter sounds, the barren wastelands of the tractless north respond in kind, howling winds and buffeting cold assailing the very bones. Wresting control over this blizzard-like phenomenon requires unparalleled mental clarity and exertion of will to clasp the hungering core of the tempest and bind the cold and the dark as one beneath your authority. Under the scrutinising eye of Litrix, Spinesreach has gleefully seized upon this combination of strange magic and ancient technology, commencing a promising line of research into replicating its effects...
