You may smelt forged items if you are at an empty, fired forge. Smelting them will allow you to recover half of the commodities used in its construction.

If it smelted on the same day it is created, then you will receive back all of the commodities used.

Refine the quality of your forging, increasing its stats.

If you do not specify a stat, then all of them will be increased, albeit not as much as if it was targeted. This is known as forging for spread.

For weapons, targeting a stat will greatly increase that stat, but the other two stats will decrease.

For armour and shields, targetting a stat will increase that stat, and increase the other one too, but not as much.

Weapons can be tempered six times, where Armour and shields can be tempered five. You can use FORGINGINSPECT to see exactly what process was used to achieve the given stats.

You can only be an apprentice in one field. You may retrain your apprenticeship whenever you wish, but it costs ten thousand gold each time.

You are now capable of forging, tempering and smelting bulk items at once.

In order to forge and temper at the same time, simply specify how many temperings you'd like to perform and of what spread type.

Valid temper types are-
For weapons: Damage, Penetration, Speed, and Spread.
For armour/shields: Blunt, Cutting, and Spread.

For example:
FORGE 5 HONED LONGSWORD 3 DAMAGE 2 SPEED 1 SPREAD

This would make five longswords from the honed template, each one tempered in damage three times, speed two times, and lastly tempered once with no stat in specific.

For bulk smelting, you supply a forging stat type (damage, speed, penetration for weapons, or blunt, cutting for armour) and a target value. You will then smelt the first item of the specified type whose value for that stat falls below the specified value you give. You can additionally use the ALL syntax to keep smelting all items of that type, and SMELT STOP to abort this at any time.

This ability allows you to apply an existing forging design, whether yours or that of another smith, to any item you have forged.

If you have been aggressive recently, you will be unable to DRAIN a receptacle until some time has passed.
