"Without the impetus to better the material, sullied and imperfect shall
it remain forever. "
This is what has been written in as to learning about Lord Rahn
To be a beacon of light to Aetolia
This is what is written in the Shallam constitution, the city Patroned
by Lord Rahn.
It becomes clear when studying the teachings of Lord Rahn that only
through fire, pain and sacrifice can the world be rid of its
imperfections and the world made great again. It becomes clear from
reading the laws and constitution of Shallam that its goal is to protect
its citizens while helping the rest of the world see its way to
perfection.
The Priest guild once said it upheld the ideals of Truth and Renewal,
and then proceded to elucidate as to how one lives their life that way.
Over time, through the pain sacrifice and forging of the guild, those
ideals have been erased and a new order has been brought up. However,
the words, Truth and Renewal are still displayed as the guiding pricipal
despite a lack of definition or explanation of those terms to the public
by the guild. It would appear from the current laws and actions of the
guild that they way and teachings of Lord Rahn are the methods and
perfection of the world is the goal. Yet sometimes, it is hard to see
the path to perfection without a guide or mirror. I propose to you, the
Priest guild of Shallam, and the Palladin guild of Shallam that you
remove the last impurities of your guild and profess to the world your
comitment to perfection through the teachings of your Patron.
It use to be that those who championed good, looked at everyone as
equals and individuals who must be helped and protected from those who
would harm them. Recently the reason for this inate line of thought was
revealed to us through the teachings of Niuri about the Sa. The things
that connect all living things. Those who wish to live a life of good,
see the Sa as the prime example of why and how we live a life of good,
namely by recognizing our connection to others and realizing that when
you are hurt, I am hurt. Nobody in the Priest guild leadership today
admits to thinking that this is True. Instead, onces choices in life and
actions in public define who one is and one must be willing to make
sacrifice in some areas to be pure in heart soul and faith. One who is a
person who wants to bring good to the world can not be friends with one
who wants to be evil. This may make sense to some, but it makes more
sense in the Context of the teachings of Rahn, more than in the context
of the teachings of the Sa, where one can extrapolate from the Sa that
if I am good and come from one source, than so can the person who is
currently evil transform and become good through time, yet I do not have
to force that transformation on them for each person find the path to
eternity in their own way.
It is simmillarly true of Shallam, a city of light or fire can not house
those who would bring darkness to the land and must purge itself of
those that do not help purify the city. I think I have laid enough
information for one to see that to truly purify yourselfs of those
things you detest you must first change the words of the ideas that you
say you uphold. Light and dark have meant different things to people in
time, Good and Evil have been debated constantly with no agreement as to
what it really is. Some say its absolute, some say its reletive, the
debate continues to exist today. However, the teachings of Rahn and his
terms are well defined and everyone knows or can know what stances one
would take while using his language. I implore you for the sake of the
memory of Lanos, for the honour of Rahn that you adopt his terms and
remove the impurities of the olden times from your mist to finally be
able to move beyond your limitations in your imperfect world.
