Hail Varian, and citizens of Sapience.

In the basest of explanations, the simplest of laymans terms, both
'Good' and 'Evil' are required to achieve perfect 'Balance'. Neutrality
in itself is not Balance, as if everything were 'neutral', stagnation
would most definately occurr.

Evil is rarely desireable, never accepted, and often misunderstood.
There can be no 'Good' without 'Evil'. And whenever one stands up to be
either, they are shunned, persecuted, and threatened. Often these loners
resort to unsavory means of combat, deception, shady excuses, and lies
to protect their lives as they fight for their cause.

The Occultists are now operating under a simple Golden Rule. Do unto
others as they have done to you. Our guild was disrespected, cast aside
on numerous occassions for peaceful resolution, and now the one thing we
held most sacred has been violated.

We leave the safety and numbness of passive acquiescense, and step
forward as the aggressors now that we have been nudged just a bit too
far over the edge. Perhaps the realm would be better served by an
explanation of the demands of the Occult.

First and most controversial, the demand for Essence to be given up by
Haern for his tresspass. Everyone should fit a Role, including the Gods.
Else there would not be a God seeking Balance, a God seeking Artifice, a
Goddess seeking Mischief, a God seeking Perfection, a Goddess embracing
Wisdom, a God of Truth, and a Goddess of the Seas. Were these 'spheres
of power' infinite, then they would be without purpose. Who are we to
determine where this boundary is? No one else is, so we arrogantly take
up the cup of poison, unless someone of greater power would like to
define them -for- us.

The realm is full of neutrality, frightened into this Role by the Gods.
Any abberation from the path, in the previous cases of, for instance,
Strung, Hagen, Spirokai, and so forth, have been met with great
disapproval and mass hatred. These are people who realize that life is
not lived without risk. That having a realm full of Dragons will be very
dull indeed. If it takes the disrespect of mortals to achieve some
higher standards of Role around here, then so be it, we may be viewed as
disrespectful ingrates. It does not change our cause.

Second, landmarking for Evil for the next ten seasons. Speaks for
itself. We want recompense for the fact that a God, in all his power,
could find no way to exercize his vengence upon our Guildmaster except
upon our very Holy Ground.

And Third, requiring of Duiran to approach us formally for a treaty on
not using exterminations, is a figurehead demand. If we, the Occult,
were to outlaw the use of hyena morph, destroying anyone we find using
it, we would be reprimanded by every God in the realm for being
irrational. You may argue that Hyena morph is not destructive, and
extermination is. We simply don't care about that arguement. We never
wanted to harm Nature, but we will not be ruled by it. The lack of even
an attempt at approaching us once Duiran was formed was the insult, not
what abilities we have been disallowed.

We do not feel these are unreasonable. Nor are they twisted versions of
Truth. Simply because we are patroned by Severn does not make us dense.
Had we no Patron, we would feel the same. The time has come for us to
slide into our niche, as it must come for all.
