Your post shows how little you truly understand of the Rhythm
We do not fear fire, we understand well that natural fires can and will
occur, now you claim we are to sit
idle while these occur and let nature work itself out. This is where
your
flaw is, the Rhythm needs balance, and maintaining of that balance, to
allow
Nature free control with no direction leads to imbalances, and as
the Rhythm falls out of balance Nature is weakened, and eventually
collapses into
itself. I see no reason why I should not use the knowledge granted me by
the Lord Haern
on management of the Rhythm. By controlling the burnings we are able to
ensure
protection of plants less abundant, we are able to protect the homes of
the druids as well. The Rhythm without guidance is like a run away
horse, if you stand
idle in front of it, you are trampled, if you take its reigns you can
guide it. This is
the way of Defiance. Severity is the third way, it is the knowledge
of knowing what needs to be done and doing it. Lord Haern granted us
knowledge that
the Ithmia was in danger do to the abundant growth
there. Actions were then taken to ensure that the growth is reduced and
the
forest protected. Instead of waiting for a natural
disaster that would destroy vast portions of land, several homes
of druids and could possibly even threaten the walls of cities. And has
you wisely pointed out in your post
there is equal amount of fuel on either side of the break
but now here is the difference, instead of an unimpeded path to the
abundant fuel, there
is a line that protects from the rapid spread of the fire. Given us the
necessary time to gather the water needed to extinguish the fire and
save the rest
of the forest. The fire breaks are not the end all be all
of forest proetection they are but the first tool used in their
protection. Along
with the fire breaks there are constant patrols of the forest, in search
of fires, and potential
trouble spots. Does it grieve me that the forest is culled, yes, but I
understand
the necessity of it. Your plan for how to tend Nature is once again ill
informed
Now for me to prove that the breaks and the Ways do work. In the years
that Haern has blessed the world with knowledge of proper management of
Nature
have your heard or known of a major catastrophic fire, there have been
several
small fires that have been easily dealt with, this is my proof that the
system
works, the mere fact that what we fear and you point out will happen
should
the breaks not be in there has not occured proves that our system is
working
This will be my last post on this subject, if you wish to continue this
debate I will be more than happy to do so without
wasting the rest of the worlds time
