Duiran-FFoS War

Over 7 years ago, the entity known as the Duiran
Confederacy consistently strong-armed and muscled
in their will against those weaker than them.
Eventually, their actions could be no longer tolerated
by those they oppressed, and a small band of their
victims organized into what is now known as the
Freedom Fighters of Sapience. The Freedom
Fighters actively opposed the Duiranite Confederacy
(which consisted of Ashtan, Sentinels, Druids,
Paladins, Duiran, and the orders of Slyphe, Haern,
and Khepri [with a short-lived stint served by both
the Forest Defense Squadron and "Dojo"]) wherever
it could, motivated by the knowledge that their fight
for freedom was not only for not only themselves,
but for those the Confederacy had wronged. The
war endured for many years, with both sides taking
significant casualties. Now, the FFoS is proud to
announce its intention to end the war...
As a gesture of our generosity and benevolence, we
have decided to drop all charges against the
Confederacy as a whole and grant a general
amnesty to anyone we choose not single out (more
on this later). Unfortunately, our kindness is not
being returned.
The FFoS has appealed to Duiran to help end the
war by allowing the FFoS to live autonomously on
the island of Ulangi. The FFoS has made it clear that
though Ulangi would become our home, there would
be no immediate shift in guidelines for visiting the
island. No economic nor hunting restriction would be
applied. However, the FFoS would have been free to
supervise our protectorate as we wished. This was
not acceptable to Duiran. Duiran claimed that they
could not "give away something that isn't theirs." The
FFoS does not care for semantics, but as Duiran
wished to stoop to such a level the Fighters
courteously engaged in them. Many arguments were
thrown out, ranging from "We aren't asking you to
give it to us (as it isn't yours to begin with), we
simply want you to leave us alone on it" to "You
aren't giving it to us. We're taking it." Though at one
point negotiations appeared to be on the verge of
success, a resort to last-minute rhetorics on Duiran's
side caused peace terms to fall apart. The last
sentiments/advice of the Confederacy were along
the lines of "You don't need us to tell you how or
where to live. You don't need us to acknowledge
anything. Go live where you wish." The Freedom
Fighters of Sapience, upon seeing Duiran's refusal
to acknowledge its wrongs, decided to oblige Duiran
and follow their advice.
Plans were drafted up and pushed through to ensure
the safety of the members (both public and private)
of the FFoS while they walked on their new home. A
final appeal was sent to Duiran (specifically, the
Druid Guildmaster aka Lady of Nature Tarkuul, who
in turn promised the FFoS that the message would
be delivered to the Confederacy) to reconsider the
offer, lest the FFoS have to continue without the
mutual support of the Confederates (which would
have saved many resources on both sides). As the
deadline passed, the FFoS realized that Duiran
would not help ensure the safety of the new
residents of Ulangi (and quite possibly would have
enjoyed it immensely if our members were
wounded/killed). The plans were executed.
The anti-foilage device was detonated near the
center of Ulangi. The blast radius cleared the island
of a majority of its hostile foilage, allowing reprieve
for those that would walk upon it. The fallout radius
has not been made apparent yet, though some
estimates display that the nearby mainland area of
Shastaan may be at risk. Only time will tell. The
FFoS acted out of self-defense for its members. As
of this moment we regard the island of Ulangi as our
home and protectorate, to be actively governed
and/or defended at our convenience. The foilage
cleared from Ulangi was only cleared for the safety
of our residents. In our kindness, we made sure that
the two druid groves on Ulangi were shielded from
the explosive's radiation.
There are no current policy changes to the political
or social climate of Ulangi. The FFoS believes (for
the most part) in independence and autonomy. Feel
free to hunt upon Ulangi, make your small fortune
there, or carry out other general routines. The FFoS
considers the Duiran-FFoS (aka 7-Year) War to be
settled at this moment in time. Should the
Confederacy decide to threaten the safety of our
members by restoring* the foilage upon the island of
Ulangi, the FFoS will view this as an assault on the
Fighter's homeland and take action to adapt to this
new (or returning) threat. While renewing the 7-Year-
War in this instance would be standard operating
procedure, the FFoS may be forced to aggressively
defend other lands as well. Roughly translated, this
means that should the Confederacy choose to
interfere with the policies of the FFoS and
rejuvenate the "safetied" areas, more anti-foilage
devices may have to be detonated... this time in
mass quantities- on the mainland. Also, any traps or
other methods to impede activities on the island of
Ulangi will be interpreted as a sign of war. In
addition, the shrines of certain deity orders that are a
part of the Confederacy still stand on the island of
Ulangi. The Fighters have decided that there is no
reason for them to be removed at the current time,
but does wish to inform those it may concern that
should the shrines be used to the FFoS' detriment,
we will have to interpret that the shrine's are being
used on behalf of the Confederacy (as the orders of
those shrines have been opponents in the war
almost since its inception) and adapt accordingly
(methods listed above). The FFoS does not wish for
renewed war. Conflict has hurt both sides. The
parties involved should now move towards peace.
We simply wish to be left alone to our own business.
But please, do not confuse reluctance to fight with
inability to do battle.
Consider this as the first and only intended notice to
the end of the war. The FfoS will lay down active
arms in five Aetolian months. The Confederacy has
those same five months to absorb this information
into its ranks and to withdraw their active and
passive resistance. FfoS guerilla squads and other
offensive military units will stand down on the month
of Haernos. Should the Confederacy fail to follow
peace terms and re-ignite the war, the FfoS will be
forced to vindicate itself.
_*_ Take heed, if ANY foliage is restored, the FfoS
will immediately analyze it as a direct/indirect act of
war committed by the Confederacy, as only their
supporters are interested in doing so. Do not plan to
fall back on technicality (such as "It wasn't us, it was
a renegade druid" etc., etc.). If the Confederacy
plans to deflect blame, it had better produce a
reasonable scapegoat responsible for the assault on
FfoS land. The FfoS will issue an analytical
conclusion regarding the legitimacy of the scapegoat
and will either recycle the scapegoat or a forest.
