First of all, I'd like to update people on the events following the
robbery of my shop and my murder within Ashtan.

After I made my last post, I was contacted by Ysni who told me I am a
'whiner'. She told me that she had fined the culprits 1000 gold and
asked them to return my stock to me.

Now, this strikes me as rather strange, because I was reading through
the Ashtan laws and this is what I found....

Under the heading of robbery
If the violator is a non-citizen: Automatic enemy status is for 2 years,
return all items and/or gold, a 2000 sovereign fine, payable to the
city, and 2000 sovereign fine payable to the victim.

And under the heading of murder...

For murder: If a law abiding guest of the city-state of Ashtan is
wrongfully attacked within the boundaries of Ashtan's influence, the
offender will be charged a fine of 3,000 sovereigns payable to the City
and 1,500 sovereigns payable to the victim. The attacker will be enemied
for no less than one year, during which they must pay their fines, or
remain enemied until the fine has been paid. In the event that death of
the victim occurs, the murderer will be charged an additional fine of
3,000 sovereigns payable to the City, and 1,500 sovereigns, plus 2,000
sovereigns per level lost payable to the murdered party. The murderer
will remain enemied for no less than two years, during which they must
pay their fines, or remain enemied until the fine has been paid.

PLEASE can someone explain to me why these laws do not apply to some
people?
Ysni, maybe you misread your laws, in which case I urge you to re-read
them please.

As for YOU, Brittlemind, you entered my stockroom illegally and watched
as the people you accompanied robbed it. You never lifted a finger to
try to stop them committing this heinous crime and therefor you are JUST
as guilty as they are...not the actions of a 'honoured man' to quote
your gobbledegook.

According to Belgarion, Meralis, Kento and himself were the culprits who
did the actual stealing, not that that should excuse those who watched
and turned a blind eye.

I sincerely hope that once the city leaders have re-read their laws
these people will be brought to REAL justice.
