A dire warning indeed.
I do not doubt your might Povox. If you wish to hunt priests, I am sure
that many of us will die at your hands.
Yet you speak of faith, and I ask what know you of faith? How can one
who's actions reveal that he knows nothing of faith speak about its
power? What do you know of the strength of the fire of my faith? How
will you quench it?
I say to you that the strength of your mace cannot quench the fires of
faith that burn within me. In my time I have lost one sister to the sea,
and one to her own misfortunes. I have been sundered many years from my
family. Like so many others, I have lost friends in my days here. I have
endured some trials, some triumphs. Most small in comparison to the
scale of events that change this realm, but through them all my faith
sustains, my faith endures. It will not protect me from your malice, but
it will give me enough to survive it.
If you wish to break my spirit, bring more than a mace. You speak of
something which you do not understand. You are not evil Povox, you
flatter yourself. There are darker things in this land than you.
I see from afar one who has lost all meaning and now seeks it in his own
self-importance. He makes himself a whore to his own aimlessness and
boredom.
Shatter my skull with your mace Povox, break my bones and rend my body.
You will find out how brightly the fire of faith is burning.
