The Nature of Hope and Despair

Hope is the illusion the so-called Light uses to enslave others. Hope is likely the purest falsehood in existence, as it is what causes stagnation in the first place. Slaves hope that others will come save them. Girls hope that they will find their storybook love. Boys hope they will be triumphant in battle. Enorianites hope the Age of Dawn will exist. Duiranites hope Dendara will not be tainted. Tainhelm hopes Enorian will protect it.

And in all these hopes, they sit around dreaming. They take no real action to see their will fulfilled, they merely hope and dream, creating fantasy within their mind, never growing beyond the simple lives they live. Without action, nothing they desire will come to pass. Without doing, they grow weaker by the year, by the day, unable to see that their plans shall never see fruition though they want so very badly to have it happen. Without taking, their lives never change. They stagnate, rot where they stand, and die within their very souls, wondering why what they hoped for and what they dreamed about never came to be.

Knowing Despair is seeing through the illusion of hope and understanding that no one is there to save you. When one sees through the lie of hope and the fake world created by it, one understands that the only way to obtain what you want is to get up, get out there, and take it. While the Indorani understand this, the followers of Chakrasul understand it in greater detail.

We understand that you will never amount to anything, attain what you want in life, change the world, or defeat your foes if you sit around hoping and dreaming for these things. Understand Despair. See through the illusions. The only one who can save you is yourself. The only one who can change the world is the one who picks up a weapon and fights to do so, actively working instead of sitting back to dream. The only one who can free you from oppression is the one who breaks their own chains and refuses to be put back in them. Do not hope. Do not dream. Act. Do. Be. Do not rely on others. Do not cower behind a foreign shield. Grow. Learn. Fight.

Tainhelm, are you not tired of the raids perpetrated by those of Bloodloch? Are you not tired of the failures of the so-called guardians who claim they protect you? Take up arms yourself and fight. Draw upon your own strength and repel raiders yourselves. Don?t hope for Enorian to do it.

They never will. Someday, in Despair, you will realize this?

And you will save -yourselves-.

Ever Downwards,
