reminiscing

Decades ago I was silently working on a small statue of My Lord Arion
under the tree in my grove, when a man walked up to me.

He said he loved my work, knew of it, was a sculptor himself above all
else, and wanted to learn from me.

Years we worked alongside each other. The man tried hard to be a good
friend, was eager to learn, and spoke as if he loved the Tarean marble
as much as I did. Until one day..

I can't even remember what it was that brought it up..or how it
escalated..it doesn't matter anyway. But to make a long story short: we
were friends no longer.

The following week I got word that a man was making trouble at the
marble quarry. After having smashes numerous statues across the lands.
Some murmured it was my fault, that he did it to get back at me. I
couldn't believe it, until he started to yell such things himself.

Needless to say I decided to ignore him, let alone believe the few words
of his screaming that did manage to reach me.
For if someone can lie so easily about their calling, what is there left
to trust.

I just went back to my chisel, as I'll do now.

Penned by my hand on the 14th of Haernos, in the year 204 MA.
