On the nature of Artifice

The call of 'Truth' has, and always will be, an attempt by the weak to
console themselves with a manufactured faith in the unreal. It is a
crutch used by cowards to justify their own desires through circular and
insular moral systems. And, lastly, is an attempt by small men to
convince great men to keep their heads bowed and shoulders hunched
through the mechanism of service to an intangible. Your empty words are
no different. To illustrate...
Truth cannot be destroyed, you say. What is true will always be true.
Yet, as one who understands the true nature of Artifice, you speak of
'personal truth' and of 'my truth.' This is the lesson of Artifice: we
all have our own subjective beliefs and experiences, the only 'universal
truth' is that nothing is universal. My experiences are true to me and
yours to you. Truth, as an enduring and universal aspect of common
experience, is a contradiction. We can have agreement and we can have
consensus, but universal truth is a figment. The Grand Artifice is Lord
Severn's legacy in this regard, his lesson to us all.
If you were a more advanced novitiate of Artifice, you would be asking
yourself why you practice this kind of self-deception, why you believe
something so obviously circular. I'll not speculate on what needs you
have that cause you to need to look outside yourself to 'Mighty' truth
for strength. Instead, I thank you for providing a living example of the
hypocrisy of truth - such examples are proving to be increasingly hard
to come by.
Artifice promotes perfection of the self by discouraging self-deception,
by enforcing self-actualization. A true follower of Artifice would not
need to solicit help from others under the guise of charity, would not
need to deceive himself as to his desire for power. He would simply have
the ability to accept his passions and desires; that he wants what he
wants and will improve himself so that he will be strong enough to
achieve it.
You are correct that those who follow Artifice will be continually
burdened by those who profess a belief in things like truth and purity.
It is in the nature of your self-deception to covet. If I were one to be
fearful of your assault, I would take comfort in the fact that the
eventual result of your self-deception is either enlightenment or
failure. Should you prefer the former, it is within your grasp. Should
you prefer the latter, let Lanos serve as your guide.
