Lord Lanos said "The search for Truth is a path that is never ending,
and learning to be True to yourself is the first step in finding Truth
elsewhere." I advise you, my friends, to listen to these words, for they
are the beginning of your journey in these lands. Truth is one of the
central facets of our existence, for without Truth, we mortals cannot
lie, nor can we discern what is, and what isn't.

Truth is not a static entity however. There is an ultimate Truth, that
only the Lord Lanos and his siblings know, but for those of us who are
mortal, or Consanguine, Truth is relative to our perception. What we see
influences what we believe, and therefore influences our truth. Take for
example the bickering between the Occultists and the Priests in ages
past. Each viewed themselves in the right, the Priests claiming the
occultists were evil, and barbaric for their beliefs and their eating of
their opponents hearts, while the Occultists screamed that the Priests
were oppressing not only their beliefs, but knowledge itself, in order
to keep the people placid and illiterate.

During this conflict, both sides stated that they held the truth, and
that the other side was lying. The accusations were thick and fast; and
as far as we mortals were concerned, either one side, or the other WAS
telling the truth. But there are other interpretations, such as perhaps
neither told the truth. Or both did.

In this instance, what they were saying was true for them. They believed
most desperately in the things that their elders told them, and thus
made them true for themselves. When they made their claims, they did not
lie. They were true.

And thus, they were true to themselves. They were true to their beliefs,
and thus began the journey to Truth. They made war upon each other for
something that was true, and though eventually both fell from those
beliefs, they were forged into something else; something truer to the
natures that they discovered within that battle.

They took the first steps towards the Truth.

Thus the first lesson is; Seek out the truth within yourself, for in
doing so you take the first step into understanding.

Remember this.
