Moral Debate

Greetings All Living and Undead citizens of Aetolia.

It has come to my attention that there is a great unrest between the
"two worlds" life and unlife. I am here to hopefully shed some light on
the philosophical and moral dilemma that is The Cycle. I mean no offence
and my words are not being written out of malice. All I ask is that you
read the entire article. Thank you in advance.

I was at the Hut of Seasone today when I ran into Osifer. He was
speaking to a dear friend of mine in a very unfriendly and quite
frankly, rude, manner... Osifer, "Congratulations, you have some concept
of time. I'd give you a treat if I had one." This is not only
unnacceptable behavior for a person of his position, it also belittles
the Enorians' cause. I've spoken directly with very few Enorians and
don't wish to ever again if they are all like this representative.

All squabbling aside, I am here to talk about Morals. Herald Osifer
Ryokus, fio Aneralnio Raleha says, "Death, in its natural state,
is not an issue. It is a part of the Cycle of Life. Death, in its
unnatural
state - that is, unduly forced, the state of undeath, necromancy - is
not
morally correct."
"Who decides what is morally correct?" I querried.
Herald Osifer Ryokus, fio Aneralnio Raleha says, "Morals, surprisingly.
Mortal morals."
Not understanding his meaning I asked, "So... The majority?"
To which he responded, "No. The individual."
It was at this point I got slightly irritated with his dodging of the
question and asked, "So morals are not inherently correct or incorrect?
They simply exist?" Based on his previous statements I thought this to
be the quickest way to an understanding between the two of us.
"Morals are an opinion of the person." He responded.
According to Osifers logic, there is no such thing as a correct or
incorrect way of thinking. Morals are just opinions and opinions are
individual. This alone should be proof that the ever-constant battle
between the living and the undead is a pointless one. I wanted to see
where Osifer was coming from so I asked, "Do you despise the Atavians?"
"Why would I?" He responded.
"Because they don't have to walk any path, they can fly." I said.
"I'm not going to get into a pointless battle of semantics," he said.
The main probelm is that I wasn't playing with semantics. I was creating
an analogy to how we live life together on the continent, Sapience.
"She and I do not follow the same path, but does that mean they can't
run through the same forest?" This question came before the one about
Atavians.
His response, "Yes, it does."
If we are all walking paths in separate forests, then we are all doomed
to ignorance, intollerance and hate. We fear that which we know nothing
about and we know nothing outside of our own reality. It is up to the
-individual-, as Osifer put it, to make the choice to leave our separate
"forests" and embrace a new lifestyle where everyone can be accepted for
who and what they are... Be it living, undead, Atavian, or Xoran.
This isn't an attempt to start a bigger problem between people, this
isn't a threat and this isn't preaching. I would -Hope- that everyone
that has read this far will take a moment to reflect on what type of
person they are. If nothing else, we all started out the same, in
Varian's eyes. We are all equal creations unto Him. I have spoken to
Osifer about meeting with his Goddess about the issue on which we were
speaking: "Would you be willing to let me and my love speak with Her?"
To which he replyed, "I imagine She'd be quite
upset that dark filth feels they are privileged enough to attain
audience with
Her."
"I wish only to hear from Her how she feels about me and my kind."
"I also imagine She has only disdain for your current state of being."
He said. This is, yet again, Osifer proving himself dishonest.
Previously, I had asked him, "Have you spoken directly with your Goddess
on matters like these?"
His answer? "Yes, I have."
I am curious why Osifer can justify his actions because claims to have
spoken to his Goddess. For someone that is so sure of himself and his
beliefs, he doesn't seem to be very cohesive in his arguements.
He speaks of truth, Hope, and being pure, but it is plain to me he is
merely fighting for the sake of fighting. I am willing to make peace.
I'm sure everyone else is as well, but as long as people like Osifer
exist, there will be only unrest and dissent. My path may be that of an
Undead, and yours may be that of the Light. Either way, we will meet our
end together, you and I, as well as everyone else, Varian willing. He
assumes much and knows little and is willing to stereotype me and people
like me based on the actions of an -individual-.
"No matter what I say, you are going to keep your false parade of
innocence up." Is one of my personal favorites from our earlier talk.
I couldn't help myself from asking, "What makes me less innocent than
you? I'd like to know."
"The fact that you're making me want to smash my head into the wall at
your apparent lack of any comprehension skills."
Closemindedness is one of the deadliest weapons I can think of and
Osifer wields it well. I hope that others will see the fallacy in his
arguements and begin questioning others' lack of initiative to
understand each other.
Again, the intention of this post is not to upset, but to get everyone
thinking. We are all walking or flying different paths in or above the
same forest. Until we can see that as a general populace, there is no
Hope. I would guess that Osifer will be posting soon after this to
defend himself, speak negatively about me, and and try to regain some
verbal ground. I say to you Osifer, "Go ahead. I have made my point." If
he sees fit to seek me out and kill me repeatedly, I can't say I didn't
see it coming and accept his intollerance with a raised chin. Do as you
will, Osifer. You only prove me right, again.
