House Bahir'an and the Imperium

Written by: Zoharim Bahir'an of House Iscariot
Date: Wednesday, December 21st, 2005
Addressed to: Khalifa Tzevi Bahir'an, Imperial Viceroy

Darkest of Tidings, Khalifa,

I know there are many left wondering about my recent actions in regards
to the Imperium and House Bahir'an. I take this opportunity now to
temporarily dispel the veil of shadows that surround me...

I bequeathed a rich legacy to my progeny in House Bahir'an - chief
amongst them was a strong democratic tradition. After many years of
Torpor, I return to find that power rests in the hands of a few and any
who voice their opinions or speak their mind are punished for doing so.
I established a democracy not an oligarchy. As far as I am aware, only
two of you have the power to grant favours and disfavours within the
House... you and that viper of a lackey, her Grace, Arch Duchess
Anaphiel. Thus, you effectively stifle any who would oppose you...

When the time came for me to enter Torpor after the Imperium was
established, I bequeathed the same tradition of democracy to that
organization... In fact, as my last Imperial Edict, I established the
Imperium as a Constitutional Monarchy. I return and find that this, my
last act was also made null and void by one of the Imperium's former
Viceroys. Now, in addition to being Khalifa, you sit as the head of the
Imperium... After several conversations with members of the other
Greater Houses, I discover that you did not relay to them my offer to
you to lead the Imperium... By the way, that political maneuver with
House D'baen was splendid. It is good to see that at least some of House
Bahir'an's ideals are still thriving...

At any rate, I shall continue to my point. I reject you, Khalifa. You
and the House you lead are no longer worthy of my name. Return to the
ideals by which I founded House Bahir'an, and I might _consider_
returning. Furthermore, so long as you are leader of either the Imperium
or the House which I founded, both shall be as nothing to me. I turn my
back upon you.

For the Glory of the Blood,
Zoharim Bahir'an of House Iscariot

Penned by my hand on the 14th of Lanosian, in the year 175 MA.
