Public News Post #3508

Ashtan's religious future

Written by: Dame Anashia

Greetings, citizens of Sapience

I, Dame Anashia, duly elected Overseer of Ashtan
declare the City-state of the Misty Isles to be the
first secular City-State in Sapience.

This decision was not only made by me but by a
public referendum because I believe that decisions
of such an importancy should not be done by a
single person or smaller group. The city of Ashtan
will from now on no longer have a single Divine as
Patron but we will honour the entire Divine Garden
instead of favouring just one of Them.

The Shrines which are already within our Citywalls
are protected by our laws, harming them means to
commit a crime and face the implemented punishments.
More details about our shrines policy will follow in
due course.

We, the citizens of Ashtan know that our decision will
surely have some repercussions, but we, the citizens
of Ashtan, realize that as long as one Deity rules over
the city, we might never have a true Balance here.

We will never forget all the dedicated help of our
Patrons, especially Lord Severn, who stood up for
Ashtan when it was destined to be banished from
Lord Varian's sight. But I know too that especially
Lord Severn is a God who expects from His children
one thing above anything else - Independency.

We want to honor Lord Severn and all Patrons in a
small ceremony on our 'Independence Day', after that
we will have nobody as our Patron -but the Garden,
and especially Lord Severn shall always have an
especially great place, especially in my own undead
heart.

In Service,
Dame Anashia, Overseer of Ashtan

Penned by my hand on the 14th of Slyphian, in the year 164 MA.
