From Light to Darkness
Lucimal began existence as a priest of faith who wished to serve the
world. He accepted his service cord of yellow saffron and took up his
prayer beads to minister to the needs of the faithful. As do the young,
oftentimes the best intentions turn awry without supervision of elders
and it was not four or so months after taking his final baptism of faith
that our hero became a lone missionary. For you see, the guild had been
disbanded while he had slept and Lucimal was left with little else but
his faithful guardian angel and his spiritual mace to light his path.
Seeking the service of those beings that he saw to be absolute and most
importantly unable to be so readily disbanded, Lucimal came to the
attention of one Grand Duchess Saga of the House of Bahir'an. His
clerical abilities impressed this immortal being and she agreed to bring
the errant priest into the House's service, to serve its will and whims.
To Lucimal this was a happy time and would later be looked upon with
fondness. Not all was ducks and bunnies though. Within Lucimal's soul
burned the fires of chaos. Chance and probability tempted him to
strengthen his potential at the forge of the Roulette wheel and the
cruel fates stripped the once mighty cleric of his powers. Leaving him a
humble, weak creature once more. But being the pragmatist our hero had
planned for this contingency and used his powers of the priestly arts,
combined with the skills that his service in Bahir'an to undead masters
had taught him to make a clone in which to siphon his spiritual essence
should anything go wrong. Clearly now was such a time.
Lucimal was only able to find a mhun whose spiritual energies fluctuated
in tune with his own and so when those strange eyes were opened and the
first twitch of limbs caused steps to occur, Lucimal immediately did
what was necessary to ask the Lord Varian to become a human. To go from
the mighty dwarvish frame to that of a weak mhun was clearly
unacceptable and a happy medium must be achieved if the proper balance
of energies could be considered properly solidified. Lucimal found
himself unable to return to the life of virtue of the priests. The guild
tutor was ill and none knew the proper rites to bring an acolyte into
the fold. His soul called for spiritual balance however and the
Monastery, with its simple yet elegant kai flows prompted him to enlist
in the guild, shave his head and begin the path to inner and outer
Balance.
Lucimal grew in enlightenment and power. He learned how to kill, and
then he learned how not to kill. Under the watchful eye of Sister
Shinobu and Sister Takara he became a mythical martial artist. Twas a
fateful note indeed in the monk's thirty-first year of life that he met
the Xorani Vampire known as Talgon. The entire world turned on its ear
when the blood compelled Lucimal to take the Dark Gift offered from the
elder male's scaled wrist. Bahir'an immediately disowned their servant
for taking the blood outside of their power and Lucimal found himself to
be alone in the world for the second, but not the last time.
After making several large offerings of himself to Lord Varian in
exchange for power, Lucimal obtained several magical trinkets and powers
of undead might. Most notable of these were a magical amulet that
blocked the most harmful effects of the hated sun and the ability to
pass on his Dark Curse to others willing to submit to his will. A House
of the progeny of Lucimal was soon formed and for a time Lucimal
satisfied himself with ruling over his microcosm of an empire. With
power comes responsibility and the nudging of similar clan leaders and
after averting a full out clan war started by his errant childer he sold
the clan to his then city Spinesreach for political power and influence.
Since that did seem to stroke his ego he went one better and offered his
services as the cultured lord he was to become the minister of the
affairs of his city's culture. Serving through the terms of several
Ard-Dhasons he eventually left the city to persue his dreams of Imperial
Influence amongst his Consanguine peers in the underground city of
Bloodloch. However, Undead politics being a bit too cut throat and
bloody to use the expression for him he has found himself an ally to
many but sworn fealty to none.
Then he met Moroaica, but that's another story...
