Your Post to me

Greetings Lord Severn,
While I dispise what You stand for, and what Your followers hold true, I
respect that You are a god,and a such nothing I post here is intended to
insult You.
On the issue of a Vizier pledging war on the city of Ashtan. No single
Vizier, including myself may declare war on another city. The ruling
council of Enorian, as a whole, alone has that authority. My colleague
Daskalos is often quick to anger, and is not always the most diplomatic
person, but I suspect that his point was not to threaten war, but to
explain a position that we hold. That is, if a city defends those who
are making war on our city, then the city is supporting this war, and as
such is putting themselves into a state of de facto war with us. I would
also note, that I think he was pushing for the enforcement of a law we
understood to have been enacted by the rulers of Ashtan.
We handed control to the city of Ashtan. They are indepndant, in the
sense that we do not control them. They are, however, not isolated.
Decisions they make affect the interests of those around them. If they
decide to act in a way that harms the city of Enorian, we will not sit
by and let this happen simply because they are independant. I want to be
perfectly clear on this. Enorian will defend itself and its interests.
I would not expect a threat on a city to be taken lightly, nor would I
expect one to be given lightly. I suspect, and must note that I have not
spoken to him, that Daskalos meant whatever statement he made less as a
threat than an explination of possible consequences should Ashtan
support individuals waging private wars on our city. Daskalos is brash,
but that does not mean he is wrong.
As for threats coming from the City of Enorian. The official position of
the city can always be found by speaking to myself, or any successor who
may follow me as Sultan, or the ambassador, who speaks for the Sultan.
I will not, now or ever, appologize for a citizen of my city, much less
one of my fellow Viziers for working to defend our interests. Daskalos
is a Vizier of our city, and if he chooses to explain possible
consequences of a city ignoring their own laws, and aiding people waging
war against us, then that is his choice. The City of Enorian has not
taken a position on this particular disagreement.
As for Your idea of negotiations, I would like to make it clear, that
whenever our city negotiates, we are definately willing to use war as a
means of acheiving our goals. It is certainly not our prefered method,
but in any instance where an issue cannot be resolved through dipolmatic
means, know that there is a penalty of war behind our demands. We do not
hide this.
