The 'superiority of consanguine

Many consanguine make the claim that they are superior to the other
sentient races on Sapience, a claim which I find false and what seems
more an attempt to bolster the ego of those who have given up much in
seeking immortality.

The main 'claim' to superiority is that, the consanguine hunt other
sapient beings for food, comparing them to cattle. However, if just the
hunting of mortals is a 'sign' of superiority, then we would have to say
that, mountain lions and other animals that feed on us mortals, must be'
superior' as well. In point of fact, they would be 'better' than a
consanguine by the fact that they are able to hunt at any time and not
be constrained to only hunting at night.

As far as their "immortality" making them superior, look at what they
have given up for this "kiss of eternal night". As stated before, the
inability to be able to go about during the day, except in a mist form
would seem a great limitation. I would also put forth that, not being
able to transcend this world, to grow beyond it, as part of the natural
cycles of life and renewal, is a severe limitation. Being stuck here,
day after day, year after year, struggling for a nighted existence,
would seem to me very soon to weigh heavily on a sapient mind, unable to
grow beyond what they were the day they were made consanguine, unable to
know the secrets of life and renewal. Indeed, if you look, many of those
who were among the first consanguine have slipped into topor, sleeping
away their eternal existence to which they have grown bored and
disenchanted with.

For these reasons then, speak not of your "superiority" for I know it to
be false. You are "different", just as all the races have their own
differences. As I have my wings, and the Xorani their tails and
Rajamalans their fur. Being consanguine does not make you more
intelligent, or better in anyway beyond the abilities gained by your
undead state. You may find delight in killing and feeding on others, but
that alone does not make you superior or make us cattle. It just means
you are more of a butcher than a thug, bandit or some bloodyminded
landmarker. Sapient beings kill other beings for many reasons. Your
reason for killing, something which you do not even have to do, is just
an excuse, a way for justifying what you have become, and what you have
given up in so becoming, consanguine.

I know this attitude is not held by all Consanguine, and to those who do
not display this arrogance, this is not meant to insult or denigrate who
you are or your choices to become consanguine. As stated, I feel the
choice to take the embrace only makes you different from the other
races, not inferior, not superior, just different.
