The Mage, the affair of Patron change, Election scandal etc

Greetings Lands,

It is now with utter disgust that I read the public news. Of all the
news posts I read, the most slanderous and fictional posts seem to
reside here'in. In fact I was so sickened by the way everyone would jump
to an opinion before knowing the actual facts involving my guild and its
current state of affairs and elections, that I almost missed the one
post I was actually looking forewards too, the one from Lord Galleus, my
guild's and with that, my own new Patron Deity.

It is none of the rest of the land's concern the political actions of my
guild unless it affects you. In this case, it was decided that people
would enforce their wills upon us. Sentinels are now banned from selling
herbs or elixers to the Magi based on a fiction based opinion formulated
by those who have no say, except perhaps negative falsehoods about the
Magi.

People go on and on and on about how terrible the Magi are because they
released Slyphe and took on Lord Galleus. Supposedly, according to the
puclic eye, Valie just jumped up and replaced Slyphe. Such is not the
case. Truth be told it really is not any business of anyone save for the
Magi, Lady Slyphe, and Lord Galleus. I am going to go ahead though and
give you the actual facts so that the public board will be ruined by one
less topic of argument based on falsehoods.

The facts: The guild leaders, the secretaries and the guildmistress of
the Magi held a long meeting to discuss the removal of Lady Slyphe as
the guild Patron of the Magi. It was decided that given the times, past
problems, and hope for a better future, Lady Slyphe would have to be
replaced. This decision was not a light one. After discussing Who the
best Candidate would be, the guild leaders chose to ask Lord Galleus to
take over this role. After meeting with Him and attaining His acceptance
of the position, Lady Slyphe was replaced. Many complained about the
lack of a referendum, however, it states right in our guild laws that it
is not a totaly necessary thing and that a meeting of the guild leaders
would indeed suffice. If there is indeed any fault at hand it is that we
as a guild did indeed not inform Lady Slyphe first of this. For that, we
of course do regret passing Her by, but the end result would have been
the same.

People have rallied against the Magi over the outguilding of Omeg. They
have said that this was something that none should do, etc...

The facts: Omeg knowingly withheld important information from the
Guildmistress after recieving a direct order to turn over said
information prior to the gathering and then later withholding of such.
Omeg informed Valie that there was no information, only for her to find
out from another present at the time of his discoveries that there was
indeed a good bit of new information on the matter he was to
investigate. Such an act is a direct affront to guild leadership and
should NEVER be taken lightly. When a Guildmaster gives an order,
especially such a simple one, you should do it. I would expect any
guildmaster of any intelligence to hold a high ammount of ill regard for
any who would blatantly lie and decieve them in their guild. Whether or
not the information Omeg possessed was great or he had a full
understanding is not an issue. The issue is, he was given a job and that
was to investigate something. He was told to give all information he
found, ALL, to the guild mistress. Upon the guildmistress asking him for
the information, he said there was none although there was. Simple
enough. Perhaps the ONLY mistake involved would be that Valie was NOT a
tyrant and let it slide at that point instead of just outguilding him.
Very good of her if you ask me. Omeg then contested Valie. Such a thing
under any normal circumstances is fine and well, however a Divine
decided to get involved in the Election. No disrespect, but the Divine
should not interfere as such in guild affairs unless there are some
extraordinary circumstances that the guild needs to know (ie, hey all,
your guildmaster is using all the guild credits by the thousands, or
hey, your guildmaster is murdering novices.. definately not, VOTE FOR SO
N SO). For this, Valie met with at least half the secretaries as they
were currently present and they agreed that this was wrong and needed
remedied if indeed the election was to be a fair election as they are
meant to be. It was decided that they would outguild Omeg then allow him
to return. They decided he would be given his guildrank back to him.
They decided that he then if he still wished could contest Valie, this
time without the election being biased, instead, on completely level
terms.

So take this to mind: If Valie was the terrible fiend everyone makes her
out to be, she would not have consulted the secretaries on the matter of
replacing Slyphe. It was not even her idea for that matter, but was
brought to her by another Magi. Valie would have outguilded Omeg upon
the moment he contested.. again an idea that I believe (though I may be
wrong) was initially another Magi's and not her own. If Valie were so
terrible, she would not of allowed him to be reinguilded, nor would she
have ordered him restored to his original guild rank. She DEFINATELY
would not of said, now that things are left to us mortals and things set
to a fair plane, go ahead and recontest if you wish.

So, for all of those who bash the Magi guild, you now have the actual
facts involved and you may stop wasting your money to slander our guild
and wreck the public news boards more than it already is. Of course, I
could be just wasting my time, I hope not, but any more slanderous posts
will show those posting to be nothing more than fools and miscreants
trying to cause unwanted trouble.

One last note to the Sentinel Guild: Remember who ordered a halt of
trade with whom. We have done no such thing, again, another sign that
Valie, our guildmistress is not the problem. Think about that one for a
bit.

Be well lands, and please, if you have nothing better to do than slander
my guild, then perhaps you should start fixing your own instead of
causing harm to mine.
