Good and Evil, what a suprise.

Friends, Enemies and those I have never met,

Noone is ever really going to agree on middle ground here but I am going
to introduce a bit though I do, admittedly, lean strongly toward evil
and good being forces, not just words to be redifined and argued
semanticly.

I worked side by side with the priests for quite a long time and was
personally sorry to see the guild disolved. There were many who were
truly dedicated to good and right and it was a blow to the rest of us
when the world lost that. At the same time, those who now claim that
"goodness" means you can not discern (discriminate) between good and
evil, were never the best of that guild...in my opinion.

Do we cure addiction by pointing people to the nearest dealer or bar? Do
we help rapists reform by rooming them with our sisters or daughters? To
say that punishing a crime, or a lifestyle is not a form of encouraging
reform is short sighted. To say that enabling...and that is exactly what
you are doing if you are allowing the benefits of goodness and light to
those who would reject it tenets...is the same as working toward
repentance or reform is ALSO short sighted.

Compassion in reform or healing is admirable. Indiscriminate violence
and destruction is, of course, wrong. But fogoing punishment for the
sake of compassion is overboard. Using the powers of healing and the
skills of good or light to ENCOURAGE evil is NOT the same as trying to
reform those individuals. It is NOT the same as trying to get them to
repent. Indiscriminate use of your skills, be it healing or whatever you
like, can do as much damage to the cause of goodness as can the
indiscriminate use of violence and flame to burn evil out of the world.

If you truly are dedicated to the healing of the world, to the healing
of the individual and not just the symptoms you need to learn when to
use those skills and when to NOT use those skills for the good of the
whole person, or in the case of the disease of evil on the lands, the
whole world. The answer to addiction is not giving someone drugs to make
the withdrawl symptoms go away...it is not getting them drunk so they
don't notice the hangovers. There is GOING to be suffering in healing.
There is nothing wrong with easing the suffering, there IS something
wrong with easing suffering at the cost of prolonging or worsening the
ailment.

perform rite of allsight for the goodness of vampires. A vampire, by
definition, is without light or goodness. They are children of darkness.
If they truly were to embrace goodness and light then would they still
BE vampires? If the sun shone at midnight would it still be night?
Perhaps that in itself IS the cure...finding one of the cursed who is
more concerned with the health of the world and the well-being of others
than they are for their own prolonged existance. One who is willing to
truly sacrifice, not for the sake of finding a cure for themselves or
thier kind, but simply to lessen the amount of evil that is in the
world...to help cure that festering wound in our society.

This is just one more in a LONG line of rambling posts on the true
nature of good and evil...I just hope that at some point in time we can
all at least agree that those two forces truly exist.
