My retort

Koron, Knight of Extrapolation:
Were you to take the time to read my previous post instead of jumping to
petty insults about what I do and do not 'mean,' you might take note
that at no point was I complaining about 'evil' never coming out on top.
Rather, I offered my observation on why I believe the term that
describes our current era, "The Midnight Age," is inaccurate given the
shift of power to those who claim to represent the light versus those
who claim otherwise.
As for my hopes and dreams, I do hope a deity at some point in time to
realize that 'evil' too deserves a boost here and there and offers to
take in those of the night, bestow them with tailored abilities to
combat their foes, and offer them guidance and unification. Given this
was done for the 'forces of light,' precedent exists.
As for why "you see no one landmarking for our side" that could be
because the number of people landmarking for necromancy is few and far
between. However, my general point with the landmarks that was unlike
when necromancy held the bulk of the landmarks against devotion,
necromancy wasn't at that time aided by three fourths of the known world
including every guild that claims to take 'neutral' stance on
landmarking. Most certainly, Sapience as a whole has taken it upon them
to support devotion over necromancy which is a -strong- indication of
how the forces of light and otherwise stand. Obviously, it is not a
strong indication in reference to which state any given number of
landmarks are. The indication stems from the involvement and support
those who are not practitioners of necromancy or devotion yet choose to
participate.
As for the abilities of necromancy and domination, please reference
specific examples of skills available to necromancy and domination that
specifically 'counter' abilities found in devotion, spirituality, or
illumination. In fact, I'll go ahead and count them for you: ZERO.
On a side note, when combat rankings truly assess combat prowess that'll
be the day I die again. With all respect to Xon, has the man sparred in
at least 10 years? Also, I note the cabalist Knick who gave Sapience
quite a show a couple years back about just how powerful those unranked
individuals out there can be.
As for global happenings, at no point in my previous post did I say that
I expected any Divine influence to 'push' those of the night to a
victory. Rather, I indicated that 'evil,' for all of its efforts, tends
to fail and fail often. As for Divine politics, I will note that no
deity to this day as taken it upon themselves to guide the forces of the
night like Lord Rahn has to the forces of the light. Before you rush to
say Lady Chakrasul, I'd like to point out that Corruption isn't a
characteristic of those who claim to be 'good' or 'evil' or 'of light'
or 'of shadow.' There is corruption Bloodloch, Shallam, Spinesreach,
Ashtan, and Duiran just as there is corruption in all things.
For specific reference, I quote from my previous post followed by yours:
Irawn:
"If anything, vampires have grown benevolent except to perhaps the
kobold slaves of Azdun. Why then have vampires become so tame? That's
simple. When there are those in opposition who are armed with the
ability to instantly cancel your abilities (such as severance from
illumination) and tear you apart very quickly, you learn to 'survive'
which for a vampire boils down to staying corporeal. It is at such times
that the abilities of masquerading one's appearance to be mortal are of
utmost importance."
Koron:
"Finally you claiming the vampires being not really evil anymore. I
cannot say much to that as I don't know too many of your kind, safe my
brother, but as benevolent as he might do it, if he began to drink my
blood, I felt the strong urge to behead him, and I'm pretty sure he
would understand my motivation. So let's face the facts, Vampires need
to drink blood, which somehow contradicts the term of benevolence. Your
claim of being benevolent somehow only gives a reason why the darkness
or the evil has no countable success as of late: Not even those that
call themselves of the darkness want to be dark anymore, they only want
to wear black clothes and look scary. I do that all the time whenever I
can find plain black clothes (urge tailors), and ask the paladins
novices, I can be pretty scary if I want, but I wouldn't call me a
follower of darkness."
Now, as my post -clearly- states, the suppression of vampires has lead
to them feeding off the denizens of Azdun (which includes ghouls,
ghasts, kobold slaves, etc) more so than random mortals such as
yourself. Thus, the vampire chooses to act in way that affords less
controversy and harm to the bulk of Sapience because doing so draws less
attention to the Black Hand, etc. Given how powerless vampires are to
Luminaries, etc. I sincerely doubt any wise vampire is openly inviting
confrontation. Thus, benevolence has been forced upon vampires. Simply
because you feed off another living being (as do all mortals unless you
are a vegetarian) does not imply you are not benevolent. And you bring
to light an interesting point, there are a lot of vampires who hate
being vampires... suppression will do this.
Sincerely,
Irawn D'baen
P. S.
With a quick note to Garador, the next age to come is a mystery to us
all. Will it be an age of continued Midnight, Dawn, or Enlightenment?
The three are very different and each has a specific group pushing in
its direction. However, I claim that we are now caught in Dawn just as
we once were in Midnight... the problems are the same, however.
