Fear, hypocrisy, and a few other things

A little less than a year ago, I had the pleasure of speaking with the
famed wizard, Hycanthus, recluse of the Vashnar mountains. I was
standing in his home (something that seems to me quite rude now, in
retrospect) and pondering exactly how I felt about this coming "war"
against the consanguine. Hycanthus greeted me most kindly, and we
proceeded to have a discussion about the Black Hand, Gods, and the role
of mortals in immortal affairs.
During the course of the conversation, Hycanthus casually stated that
Gods and Goddesses have no confidants. No allies. They have followers,
who serve to further Their sometimes unfathomable goals. Only now have I
realized what a truly important piece of information he had given me.
Rahn seeks the destruction of all darkness, or all "evil", if those two
could ever be interchangeable defined as they are. Pythona has,
according to words from his very mouth, allied himself with Rahn to
destroy the rogue consanguine. And yet.....Pythona practices necromancy,
a skill that is, by popular opinion, shrouded in darkness and evil.
The point is this, citizens of Sapience. How long is it before Rahn
turns his flame upon practitioners of necromancy, in hopes of purging
the land of their "taint"? How long before the likes of Searoth and Clio
are performing brutal, ritualistic torture masquerading as science on
cabalists, indorani, and infernals, who are all too willing to risk
death at the hands of their brutalizers because they have been convinced
their way of life is wrong? Make no mistake, friends and enemies,
necromancy is almost universally viewed to be "evil", and if not evil,
then at least dark, and thus it is just as likely a target for Rahn's
crusade as the consanguine.
This is not an attack on Rahn's order, however much it may seem to be.
As far as I know, they have yet to make a move against necromancers at
all. This is to make a point that Pythona, and everyone else it seems,
has missed. Gods have no allies. They only have followers. Followers
like Pythona, who, in the end, will more than likely ostracized by the
very people to which he pledged his loyalty, for practicing the "evil"
art of necromancy. Unless I have been lied to my entire life, Rahn
suffers no darkness within his ranks, and will cast out and destroy
those who oppose His purifying flame.
