Shadows and Ignorance

A busy fool is someone who puts too much effort into solving problems
people didn't know they had.
I awoke from a fitful sleep to find my kind are to be targetted. My
lifechoice has made me a disease, a scourge on your snow white world.
For what reason? My embrace into the blood was an exit that saw me
emerge into a new life. I am no predator. I have met very few of my kind
who are. I have met plenty who would slay without cause or mercy as
easily as they would wipe the sleep from their myopic little eyes.
Ironically, these are the very kind who express the most extreme views
in this forum.
There is a long-held revulsion in this realm for vampires. Much of it
written into history and the blood has a memory regardless of it's
ownership. Most opinion of the Consanguine is founded in ignorance. The
views of the gods cannot be denied, I would not be so delusional to
regard the views of Lord Hearn or Lord Rahn as ignorant. This way is an
existence in the absence of light and in spite of nature. But how can
the likes of the Blachand make these claims?
How can vampires be an abomination before Varian? To die as a mortal is
to be supplicated before your Creator, to be reminded how sacred your
life is and to be sent back into grace with the knowledge that you are
part of Varian's plan. To avoid this is not arrogance. We are still of
Varian, we walk His earth and we are allowed to take sustenance and
healing from the soil. You can be shrubbed for taking advantage of
Varian and the Gods, lesser crimes in the eyes of some. Why then have
the Consanguine been such a consistent and beneficial part of this realm
for so long?
You look at the vampire powers only in the context of combat, only in
the perception that they are used to kill and hunt in bloodlust. Such
skills also open up the realm for the Consanguine, allow us to witness
Varian's wonder in a new light. The scholastic nature of the Imperium
has always been hidden by this delusion that it is all about power. That
much of this delusion has come from the Imperium itself is an irony.
I rejoice in the freedoms I have been 'gifted', but I do not see myself
as removed from His Creation, nor do I flip the bird at the Imperium
because I chose my bloodline rather than have it choose me. What I pay
for this are the fading memories of wildflowers and the true colour of
deep waters, and those penalties cut deeper than any punishment any
rogue vampire can expect from your gang.
I pray for a peaceful path, but it seems unlikely while so much rests on
ignorance. My words are offered to educate. take them as you will.

sunrise. It is not all about shadows.
