You're probably tired of hearing about the subject by now, but here's my
take of it. Basically, the detractors of vampire have come up with two
primary statements.

1.) Vampires are bad because they "defile" corpses
2.) Vampires are inherently evil because they are vampires.

That might not be their argument verbatim, but thats what it comes down
to. Now, being a civilized spawn of the night, Ive taken the time to
come up with a response that shouldnt insult anyone. Keep in mind,
however, Im inherently evil and vile and probably wont be able to help a
few smart remarks.

1.) Yes, we drink the blood out of corpses. Ill even concede that thats
probably defiling the corpse. But why just yell at us? Why not yell at
those who practice necromancy, ripping the heart out of the dead? Or
maybe, lets taunt everyone who offers to any god, because they obviously
aren't doing the corpse any favors either. Really, if you think about
it, once theyre dead, said person probably no longer cares about their
body. Feeding doesnt screw up their eternal soul any more than just
killing them. So lets vilify anyone whos ever killed a single living
being for any reason other than self defense, shall we? Now that weve
determined that feeding isnt the most horrible thing on earth, or if it
is, everyone else has committed equally atrocious crimes, lets discuss
the second point.

2.) Wow. You know, my skin burns in sunlight. That must make me the
spawn of the Underking himself! So the reasoning goes, anyway. Really,
other than making me dislike the sun, it doesnt really effect who I am.
I can be the kindest soul on earth, or the meanest demon of the
underworld, but it doesnt change depending on if I stay indoors during
the day or not. Declaring vampires evil for being vampires is like
claiming every citizen of Shallam is absolutely good and righteous.
Before you make that claim, then, remember the traitors among the city
of the light. Just as not all citizens of Shallam are good, not all
vampires are evil, and claiming they are is horrible stereotyping.

Im done now. I didnt specifically insult anyone, and expect the same
civility from anyone who chooses to respond. If an "evil" vampire can do
it, so can you.
