occies/indorani

Sorry about the last post.

I am not a big fan of having discussions like this on
the public board. For some reason, I have noticed that
when a problem comes out on the public board, it gets
fixed though, so perhaps we should have it here.

Let's look at some of the skills of the worst class ever.
When an occultist/indorani soulcages, they can reflex to
xenophage to escape the fight to the chaos plane. Of course,
they are going to use up a lot of essence, which they can
because hearts can be stored up and as many as you need can
be used unless all the landmarks are against you. Devotion
users don't have this luxury, but it is not a huge deal.
The occultist gets outnumbered, so he can throw a pit and
take out large groups of people. It is nice that it has a
defense now, but you can not fight while staying out of it.
The occultist gets attacked by a group, he can emperor someone
and have his friend empress him(that may have been fixed). He
could also lust someone, and right after being empressed, he
could just empress that person. Allowing an occultist to be
able to fight large groups of people. The skill exterminate
upsets sentinels and druids which can not effectively fight
an occultist using metamophorsis without an evermorph ring.
Death tarot can be used on a person and left in a shop. Since,
they don't decay, as long as you keep the cards separate, you
could use a card many years after you first started getting
swipes. Hermit cards used to be able to be used in the same
way, but now that monolight sigils stop them, I am not sure
how useful that is. The traveling changes have slightly
weakened some of the occultist skillset, but have weakened
the other classes as well.

Taking away all of these things, they are not a weak class.
They still have other escapes. Pathfinder, which works even
when your legs are broken and you are tied up. Map, which
was weakened slightly, but still works very well. Blackwind.

Ok, now without all the things I just said, is the class weak?
As long as you can avoid monkshood, you have the strongest
group of entities following you. There are defenses for many
of the attacks, but the defenses can often be attacked as
well. Aeon is a very powerful attack. Gravehands gives a
simple way to hold someone there while you escape or just
kill them. Of all of these things, the ones that acually
bother me the most are soulcage/xenophage and soulstorm. Soulstorm
doesn't have a long equilibrium recovery, and it instantly
removes a metamophorsis(doesn't give the affliction, losing
bonds with animals spirits) unless the defense is up. The
defense has, or had(I have an evermorph ring, and haven't
used it in a long time) a similar equilibrium time. This
invalidates most of a sentinels/druids skills instantly.
You can not rebond for a time after losing morph.

I gave up trying to fight the occultists during the time when
Spirokai first did his little power play. Most occultists seem
to be inept at fighting. Perhaps, if this was not true, there
would be more problems. Spirokai is, or was, nearly invincible.

Penned by my hand on the 10th of Severin, in the year 129 MA.
